So, so many "booby traps." No pun intended. One time i was at a bar/club in Saigon, and the waiter infoms me that a pretty girl at separate table asks to talk to me. So I chit chat with her a bit at her table. The waiter comes over and asks me if I'd like him to bring my beer over from the bar to her table. At that moment, I noticed that her table has many fancy drinks, about 8 of them in all sorts of colors, and if I sat down that would become MY table and I'd get a huge bill. So i politely declined.

Wow well done to you for thinking that way. Yeah I would imagine there would be alot scams played out like this one. Problem is how do you know for sure when your being conned? You can be wise & use commonsense but still fall victim to a scam.

Great report !! I know the area pretty well and actually it used to be generous before, but now, no more good places left. All of them has hidden charges. If you want to have better time, Vietnam is not the country any more. Thanks for the real report, mate.

$40 would be just for the room. anything else costs more such as drinks and any so called "companions". Mostly only Asians go to these karoke places since they mostly are sketch as f but familiar for them because they are in all Asians countries and they know the drill .

They tried to overcharge me there too. I just refused to pay any more than the drink price. I guess I got lucky.

Like I said I've actually gotten hit from all angles from bar girls about this shit. I only goto sway and a few other places if someone really wants to go to one of these places

I also got scammed 7 million dong on bui vien. Their loss, never been to any girlie bars in VN again. Now Cambodia gets my money.

Happened to Aussie friend of mine in Buen Vien, a bar 1st floor at the main entrance before all the main clubs. He ended up paying like $900AUD and had no way out of the situation other than yell at them etc. He knew he was getting scammed. He was too friendly, doing beer shouts and thinks he spent around $300AUD lets say, but they hit him up for extra fake drinks

It kind of sounds like the hourly portion I would shy more away from. How about the bars where they charge you per lady drink and your drink, are these much safer, provided you don't set up a tab?

This sounds like it's more about girls and lots of booze. Not just having a beer in a bar. As for cameras, you can be beaten in almost any city if you sneak one into a private establishment which offers paid companionship. The Latin words "caveat emptor" (buyer beware) have had legal and historical implications going back centuries: if you want a fair price, you should always do some homework before you buy something. once went to one of those bars took a couple of girls home stole like 20 mil and as for my phone it was stolen in the club by the management and to get it back they wanted 20 mil ... 40 mil ... expensive night and an EDUCATION lol 4 years in vietnam now haha PTSD enough to not run into anymore issues at all lol i been through the works one hell of a story lol

I've done it in Thailand. Basically, you buy a girl a "lady drink", she gets paid a little, and you get to spend a little time practicing your chat up technique. It's a nice thing to do - no woman, of any culture, dislikes being flattered.
