Honest question here from someone who knows nothing about plumbing: If you can see the mass and it can be removed easy enough, why do you wash it away and not pick it out? is it likely to cause an issue further down the drain?
@chriswilliamson1993 жыл бұрын
I'm talking about the initial mass and not the FAT BURG!
@TheDrainUnblockers3 жыл бұрын
So the problem here is that it was all held up as a single mass. When its been broken up and pushed out it goes to drains much, much larger than residential, 300mm+ in diameter it's much less of an issue. These can then take this. If we took it out of the drain it then becomes a case of disposal, sticking it in a bin isn't ideal, we do have skip at the unit for repairs but we can't be putting raw sewage on it. Neither option is great, breaking it up and shifting it along into systems that have the tolerance to cope better is the best option.
@chriswilliamson1993 жыл бұрын
@@TheDrainUnblockers good to know, thank you.
@michaelt29873 жыл бұрын
Have to say I wonder the same thing. It became instantly apparent to me that the initial bulk was going to block the outlet and cause more work as it did. You say don’t put wipes into the system and then force all that lot into it to cause problems down the line, even enormous 36’ pipes get blocked and I’m sure this doesn’t help. Just my thoughts. I agree it it was solid poo it needs to go down but that lot was solid wipes, tissue and fat. I’m no drain expert but my instinct would be to remove it. Enjoying the videos though and agree Andy’s camera work is the best.
@warreng19782 жыл бұрын
got to admit it would’ve been a lot better to just bag it all up, not ideal but sending it all down caused more work and it still seemed to have a slight blockage further on

I’m curious about the statement “ narrow drains”? I’ve been involved in many drain blockages as a supervisor with a local authority and I can say that that drain is sufficient to serve a domestic dwelling. I would have liked to have seen a dye test on both of these outlets, however, one of which was not jetted.

Whoah, now that's a lot of OILY GREASE. My mom taught us to use a can for any GREASE, store it in the freezer, then toss when it's full. Grease & Wipes don't belong in the plumbing. For the bits that do get down the drain from cleaning, we run HOT water for a few minutes occasionally.
