I have this bike. Had the same older 9,6 you had as well :) Tires are sooo good. I don`t like dropperpost, so I ditched that. Thinking of changing to shimano drivetrain and brakes

I came out of a stache 9.7 to get a carbon Farley no regrets but both great bikes equally fun.

The Farley 7 is 80mm actually. 100mm fork with the top out spacers limiting it to 80mm so that big old tire doesn’t strike the frame and fork crown.

I’m devastated the stache and full stache are discontinued. 29+ is dying. 29x3 tires are extremely tough to come by, especially during COVID.

Thanks for a great review! I can’t wait to get my 2022 Farley 9.6. I live in Anchorage and live really close to some great trails, so of course I had to splurge a little bit. Aside from trail riding, do you see any reason that this bike wouldn’t make a great bike packing / adventure bike?

Nice. I've got one of the old Trek Farley 9's, I ride the bastard all year round on 3.8 tyres. Could not get on with rigid forks tho, I put the Bluto's back on.

I just bought one, the last one in my province. If there was choice I would have got the 5 or 7. It’s super light. The dealer swapped the tires for the gnarwahl so I can run studs. I’m still getting used to sram. Jury is still out on that.

I have one on order. Dealer said not until august 2021 do you have any idea if they will be making them anytime sooner. I was also told you can’t put a shock fork on this bike. Any truth to that

Not that I am aware of. Both my Farley 9.6 and my Farley 5 used this BB and neither had issues

52 teeth oh my. I run a 50t with a 30t crank and love it but I have to wonder if it's even practical to go any slower...?

i thought abot getting a fatbike for winter riding (w snow, ice, etc).. but end up w a fs xc mtb, which is more versiatile.. and i think having fs is better than fat tyres when handling ice ruts

Thanks for the review. I would change the Barbegazi tires for Gnargwall. The Barbegazi are almost useless on snow.

Have you ridden them in the snow? I have 3 New England winters on Barbagazi and like them. Infact my Farley 5 came with the Gnarwall and I ended up switching them out. The Barbagazi rolls so much nicer, and in everything but the deepest snow does a great job of packing and gripping.

Great review James. Really informative. I'm looking for a Fat Bike to ride in the snow of the French Alps and will need to wider tyres and float. There will be a lot of climbing so the lower weight will be beneficial. Trek have nailed the spec on this 2021 Farley 9.6. Thanks

Its a fatbike, most parts cost more. For example there is $300 woth of tires on this, wheels cost more, cranks ect. This is pretty decently priced in comparison to others.

I wish Trek would update their hardtails and fat bikes with modern trail geometry. 69 HT is nothing to write home about. I know it’s a fat bike, but RSD Mayor rocks a 67 HT by comparison.
