Lovely bike, the gearing is similar to a Scott that I have and it is proper, I have bikes with various wheel options, those new wheels of yours are my favorite. You can have it all on those. Enjoyed the video thanks.

Yea I do like the wheelset. Should have gotten it sooner.

Awesome video! Thanks for the feedback. I have been thinking about picking up a summer 29+ wheelset for my Bigfoot but I think your video convinced me to leave it alone. It would be fun but I already have a FS, Torrent and a trek FX with gravel tires. I think I’ll have too many bikes that do the same thing if I went 29+ for a summer setup. Great channel!

I don't have much to compare it to but I like my 27.5x3 as an all purpose bike, it works good in rocks and sand at low pressure, and at high pressure the tires are quite round so they work on the road pretty well too. I'd love to go up to 29 but it would depend on the stand over height.
@FatbikeRepublicNL Жыл бұрын
I thought about 27.5 but I would have lost a lot of BB clearance. 29er is pretty darn close to fat in rolling height.

1.382 kilo difference. OMG! Weight-weenies are sweating. That's like someone putting a Wren inverted fork on a carbon fat frame(And it works!). I prefer 29er plus. With long legs and hefty body mass, I roll much smoother & confident through deep snow, mud, and sandy trails than using 650b. Terrene 29x2.8, attached to Halo Vapor 50 wheels(with tubes), are very gnarly for trails and commuting on snow-covered roads.

I'm not sure I would want to run this setup in the winter. Maybe with a solid packed base of snow. I do like being chubby during winter. :-)

Think about 29+ wheelset to my Norco Bigfoot. 27x4.5 to 29x2.8.

2.8 . . . that would be a chunky skinny tire indeed. What tyres were you thinking?
@darrengraham31622 ай бұрын
How wide is your rear hub? I'm going to do the same thing, I have to purchase a rear 177mm hub and get the wheel built.
@FatbikeRepublicNL2 ай бұрын
197mm for this bike. You must have an older bike if its running a 177mm in the rear.

Why are you calling a 2.5 inch tire a "plus" tire? those are pretty standard now, plus are 2.8 or larger.
@FatbikeRepublicNL2 күн бұрын
I could call them skinny compared to stock 4.5s.

Looks heck of alot nicer to, looks like a proper nice bike now! I just said to someone I've never seen a nice looking fat bike yet thought the same at the start but there you go its the size if the tyres that just make it look odd n kinda stupid looking no offence i just think its interesting how these fat tyre theres a limit to the looks of width! There bringing out 31s or have so probably end up seeing these on fat bikes next might actually suit this type of bike
@FatbikeRepublicNL10 ай бұрын
The skinny tyres do make the bike look more "normal" and operate less like a fatbike. But I do really dig fat tyres and they way they roll off the beaten track. To each his own I guess. :-)

Please, where do you find tubes for 27.5 fat bike tyres?
@FatbikeRepublicNL Жыл бұрын
I'd say your LBS would be the first place to check. I know that for my 26" equipped fatties I got 26" MTB tubes. The same may work for 27.5s

how much does it weigh on stock tires? and how difficult is it to drive on a 4.5 width in the summer? I'm planning to buy this bike for the gravel ride
@FatbikeRepublicNL Жыл бұрын
According to my scales 14.31kg with stock tire setup. I never found it difficult to ride with 4.5s, but I'm not sure what you would define as difficult. I ride fatbikes all year round in all conditions. However, the 29er setup does make the bike quicker. Hope this helps.

Tubes are king! Tubeless is a messy scam. When tubeless tires become clean, as in no sealers necessary, and no nuclear air blast necessary for inflation, then I will consider them. 🫡
@FatbikeRepublicNL Жыл бұрын
LOL. Yea, I'm not fond of tubeless either.
@hop3334 ай бұрын
They do ride quite a bit bit nicer though, and if you don't puncture them often you don't see any mess. I'm convinced at least for low pressure tyres.
