This fight was easily my favorite in the show. This epic music, the great choreography, the clanging metal of the swords (nothing in the show had sounded like that). Love how Sieg went full "Beserker" and Caules cheering him on. I rewatch that fight all the time

Shirou Kotomine : A martyr. A boy who wanted to free his people from oppression but tried to do so with the wrong way. He started a rebellion. A rebellion that failed. He himself regretted that decision. Right before his death he realized that this event will be forgotten and wars will never end. He decided that, if he ever gets a second chance in life, he can do it all better. At first he hated everything and everyone. But, after rethinking it, he realized that its all his fault thus his hatred towards others turned into self-hatred. He hates himself cause he was unable to save others. He feels like a sinner and views the saving of the world as his redemption. He believes that by making sure everyone is saved and happy, he can also be happy and finally forgive himself. He is a deeply traumatized person with a broken heart and wish. Yet, he always holds into that wish, simply because he finds it worth holding. Sieg : A newborn. An artificial human who at first only wanted to live. He has no background but very interesting ideals. He tries to be as human as possible. He does not wish for salvation. He wishes for freedom. He does not know what the future has planned for him but he gladly accepts it and wants to walk that path anyways. Who he is at first depends on the people around him. Cause of Jeanne and Astolfo he turned out being such a kind and caring person. He only wants to be someone.

Yeah, they are both great as persons. It's interesting to see what they think about each other in F/GO dialogues that are on some videos. They would have not been enemies if not for the circumstances.

Portraying Shirou Kotomine is not so hard to do. You just take Shirou Emiya and Kiritsugu Emiya and fuse some aspects of their personalities
@iryu72886 жыл бұрын
I disagreed Your Highness, he's more like Kiritsugu with his own ideal only, I see nothing of Shirou in him in both LN and anime. Also If Amakusa is easy like you said how the hell they fail Sieg when he's 80% in show?
@arthurpendragon59346 жыл бұрын
Shirou Kotomine's aspect Shirou Emiya is that although he eventually understands his dream is not attainable, he stills holds into. A1 Pictures probably just wanted another Kirito thats why
@iryu72886 жыл бұрын
Still don't see it, cause unlike Shirou Amakusa know his dream is attainable, that's why he so confident in the show, Unless of course you mean pre-servant Amakusa then I agree he has that aspect. Again I disagree, as bad as Kirito is he's more active and likable than cardboard guy, he's nothing like Kirito at all

Amakusa is such an interesting character throughout the series. He starts off as someone who seems to have lost all feeling but later on he shows it more and more until the end when he reveals who he was before. He’s a bit childish when it comes to protecting his wish, but it’s understandable and realistic. I think he’s a really good character, even though his wish wasn’t done very well. Also he’s really pretty lol

The best part about Amakusa Shirou Tokisada in Fate/Apocrypha is how we have a version of him that willingly put aside/sacrificed his desire for revenge to bring about the salvation of entire humanity instead. It's a complete departure from all the other depictions of him in various other stories and it also gives depth to his wish to the grail within the story. Such a brilliant character.

Legit my fav antagonist in the animated Fate at least. Not a fake priest like Kirei, but a matyr who died, full of hatred of himself and systems of the world that allow the weak to suffer and man to sin, yet never loving his love of humans or wanting their salvation. Given a second chance of life, he tries to create a world where people no longer suffer, but fails the first time because he held himself back by the rules of the war, once again betrayed by his principles in a way. He comes back again, this time doing it no matter who gets in his way, only accepting God’s intervention to stop him. He wants a world where people are free from their bodies, their connection to their evil mortal lives, and wants basically heaven on earth where people’s souls can live in peace. To do so, he also adopts this attitude of abandoning his own hatred, already trying to cast his humanity. Then comes this homunculus, a being not bound by the evils of man, who he views as having the perfect existence, and this creature emulates human behavior and fights for their freedom to choose their own future. While he’s acted up a few times in the past, his encounter with Sieg is like facing his ideals, which he’a already done for so long, and having them spit on his ambitions. He shows more sign of his less then perfect, but passionate self. He’s done everything he can, showing mercy to so many and trying to do it peacefully whenever possible, and yet he can’t avoid this fight. Two people who cannot fundamentally understand each other, a man who views his and the world’s basic human nature as a curse to heal and the other a creature becoming his own person, seeing both evil and good in humanity, and fighting for their choice to choose, much like the heroes who gave him the chance. Say what you will about Sieg, his dynamic with Amakusa is amazing and I felt it so much during their fight.
@Leonhart_935 жыл бұрын
I agree. What I especially liked about Apocrypha is that here you don't get antagonists with evil motivations (other than some minor characters). Nearly everyone is likable and relatable. Even though I don't really like Fate Grand Order, it's interesting that both Sieg and Janne appreciate Shirou in their dialogues there. If you haven't seen those already I suggest you look them up ;)
@CanterlotCrusader5 жыл бұрын
Oh I have, love those. I especially like that Sieg basically says I don't hold a grudge against him, but don't let him anywhere near the grails, while Amakusa says I don't hate him but don't put us near each other as we probably won't get along. Honestly, I loved almost every character in Apocrypha. Spartacus, Avicebron, and most of the masters are eh, but the actual servants were all awesome, some true heroes seeking their own desires with their own principles, some coming to realize what they wanted was wrong or impossible, and a lot of character to character dynamics that made it feel like a war between heroes. I love Fate Zero and UBW, but those shows rarely have fights that have the servants fight square and finish what they start, as the show's drama ends up with a lot of them dying along the way prematurely. It adds excitement and good drama, but Apocrypha delivers the personal clashes and war aspect. I think Apocrypha is woefully underrated.
@Leonhart_935 жыл бұрын
Yeah, in Zero and UBW it's more about how they can kill each other in the most dirty and back-stabby way possible, which works for the plot, but doesn't work to make the characters shine. Whereas in Apocrypha they are more focused on individual fights, which lets the characters shine.
@AntiNihilist5 жыл бұрын
Only problem is I can't take the homunculus seriously since he only has like two years to live(of which he's lived about a month...) yet talks as if he understands humanity or what it's like to be human. At least Jeanne fighting for humanity made a bit more sense, even if she also had unrealistic views about humanity

Think about that moment for a second. The guy shouted for Berserker with his fist up in front of everyone. You know someone was looking at him like "Why are you cheering for the dead person? Or maybe also fighting or trying to free rider? Just gonna shout? Okay."

I love these two characters I don't understand why people hate on them so much.
@Leonhart_934 жыл бұрын
Agree a lot. The reason is probably the stereotypical culture that tells them in most shows "this is the character you are supposed to like and this is the one you are supposed to hate". But Apocrypha was crafted so that most of the characters have purposes that don't make them inherently evil. There is no one your are "supposed" to dislike and that confuses them 😂

Imo Sieg was not at the level as protagonist. At least Shirou's ideology was way better
@adrianextremere71973 жыл бұрын
@@nonehasenemies The problem with Sieg is totally in the context and role he has, he can be a good protagonist and his final clash with Amakusa is incredible but such a clash is not interesting in front of the possible 7 Pairs of Masters and Servants fighting each other with family ties and the rest being so important. Sieg and Amakusa were in the wrong war and that took away from too many things. Remember Fran? She is a really liberal adaptation of the original novel and is more or less out of place (Why use a mana efficient Berserker if you have nearly unlimited mana?) even her strength is out of place entirely. Now picture this, instead of Fran we had Kintoki, not only is his power way more in line but it would give a other ways for development, after all this war is already broken and getting Kintoki would have helped to make the Berserker class feel strong. Astolfo while a nearly perfect knight and a great character also is out of place, why not give the rider spot to a more fitting Servant? It makes the Yggdmillenia look stupid in comparison since they had catalysts for most of their servants. And last, Amakusa does not take advantage of how absurdly versatile his arms are, he only uses them briefly to change the directions of a black key and to do that weird black hole like thing. Imagine if it was used as a sort of All Counter, after all the function of those arms is replicating any magecraft. ANY MAGECRAFT, imagine if he was the one to defeat Siegfried by using Anti-Dragon magecraft or having a Stalemate with Darnic by constatnly improvising magecraft that played like rock paper scissors. And lastly Sieg gets too many coincidences in his favor, he dies and Fran and Siegfried revive him, with Siegfried we had a problem, we were deprived from further Siegfried interactions in the show and that is a shame.

Shirou didnt cast his humanity away. He casted away his hate and sorrow. In order to save humanity he threw away his guilt and pain.
@MrCat-zz5eo6 жыл бұрын
Hmm... Interesting point for debate. One could say the Servant named Amakusa Shirou became inhuman by casting away that which weighed him down. One could say he remained human, by holding onto that wish for humanity's sake, unshouldering those burdens that would make him one with man's potential for All the World's Evil. ...However, to cling to an ideal is to become inhuman. To become a Hero of Justice | to become one who saves the world | to seek the means of humanity's salvation, is to become inhuman for the sake of humanity. That is the way of the Nasuverse. To be human is to feel, to shoulder the burden of feeling and pain.
@heroicspiritemiya64586 жыл бұрын
Amakusa Shirou is not really a Servant anymore. He achieved true incarnation and became human once more. He pretty much wants to become a Hero of Justice. Cause what he is trying to do is what a Hero of Justice would do.
@MrCat-zz5eo6 жыл бұрын
It's beautifully ironic, in that way. A man who became human in flesh, but inhuman in mindset. A child born not as a human, but fighting for humanity's sake.

Shirou should have won. Whether it was right or wrong, at least we would have gotten a glimpse of how his wish would have impacted humanity. And I would have loved an internal monologue of Shirou after he'd seen that impact. What was the most frustrating while watching the show, was Jeanne and Sieg saying that [mental] suffering is a part of being human and that things should stay like this. Unlike Shirou, they are against any type of change which I find incredibly dumb. Rin said it in Fate/EXTRA : Stagnation is the worst that can happen to humanity and will ultimately destroy it.
@fmaster996 жыл бұрын
Kumira Pau-chan But what Amakusa wanted was literal stagnation. He would erase the capability of growth for humans.
@kumirapau-chan98806 жыл бұрын
fmaster99 He wanted to erase evil, not growth. People could still have the ambition to create new things, in theory. Well ... I guess we'll never know. Also, changing the world in such a drastic way is a form of evolution.
@heroicspiritemiya64586 жыл бұрын
Shirou was correct. He was the Hero of Apocrypha.
@fmaster996 жыл бұрын
Kumira Pau-chan Getting rid of evil means getting rid of free will. Getting rid of free will means getting rid of the base instincts of humanity, what makes us human, the capability of natural growth through facing adversity. Amakusa wanted humanity to be a bunch of eternal children, who'd live forever without needing or desiring anything and he would achieve that by making it so everyone was forced to achieve third magic. A world in which a change in status quo would be fundamentally impossible and therefore a world that would end up getting pruned. Ever heard of the concept of Ying and Yang? Too much of one thing is never good.
