I didn't knew you were at knowledgeble about Fate, Silver Mont, that's pretty cool to hear. Thank you for the review, I always love your takes. I'm a massive Fate fan, so, will be picking it up even if I dislike that they made another Musou style game. This one seems tamer in compararison to Extella and Extella:Link in the "fight a million trash mobs" department, so maybe it will feel different.

Ah, yeah from what I understand (I never played them, although I have been curious as I like Fate and I like DW) Extella is pretty much DW style, 1v1000 stuff. This one isn't really musou'y other than the control scheme for light/heavy attacks. And yeah I played the original visual novel a looong time ago haha, then I watched the ufotable anime as they came out. The only spinoff (barring this) I've seen was uh... Fate / Strange Fake, I think? The one that had a 55 minute TV movie and looks like it's going to have a series later.

The team ninja - esque animations look great. I like koei tecmo quite a bit, will def check this out after I’ve finished the onslaught of souls likes and armoured core 6 that have been releasing in such a short time span. Not a great year for smaller action games to release as they are competing with armored core 6, remnant 2, lies of p, lords of the fallen etc etc.

Haha yeah the last few weeks have been really jam packed. I actually finished Lies of P before I started reviewing this, but this was a higher priority as I had review code. Lies of P review next week, tho! I wanna grab Remnant 2 at some point as the first was really fun

I wonder if there is an equivalent term to "bullet sponge" but with swords. I think of that during the clip where the player is pummeling that common sellsword with a katana to little effect. Makes me miss the wacky Way of the Samurai series.

I have never played a fate game before but I really like Fire Emblem Three Hopes and JRPG's so I have brought it. English dub would have been nice but managed fine when playing older Yakuza games or The Caligua Effect.

Looks like a fun time. I haven’t seriously engaged with the fate franchise since the UBW anime. Still trying to finish Tsukihime and part 1 of the remake before I jump into Fate/Stay Night Realta Nua so this should be a cool decompressor after work. Thanks for the recommendation

Oh you should check out the Heaven's Feel movies if you haven't seen them! They are really good - whilst I enjoyed the UBW anime, I think they really hit their stride with those movies. The uh... well, without spoiling it if you've not seen it, but there's two major Servant battles in the movies which are -really- good. Probably the best action scenes ufotable have ever done haha

Personally fate is my favorite anime and yes when it comes to samurai/ronin that all me. I know some people's won't like the game. But I'm glad they made it tho. And honestly it's pretty good. I'm just thankful it's not a another fate extella

@SilverMont I can't say it great. But it's soso okay. Like it's not hard but it's just bluh. Like example you know when you play dark soul or eldenring. It's just fair and refined and well you never get bored becuz you always find some new. Well with extella. It's just repeat stage full of enemies that 100% the same and no depth. But on mine end the story part wasn't too bad. That the 1st extella. Now extella link. They improved the game quite abit. It's more combat heavy-ish. But if you play DW9 with the skill select bottom and with a dish of Dynasty warriors gundam reborn. That pretty much it. But for the game has a whole fate/extella (6/10) fate/extella link (7.5/10)

Nah, I've not played those ones but from what I've seen, they are pretty much unofficial musous. This one is largely about going around districts of Edo. You'll usually be fighting groups of like, less than 50, the emphasis is more 1 v 1

Funny fate extella and extella link were really fun awsome musou fate games not made by omega force but the guys who made the awsome senran kagura and onechanbara games, so the extella games were a real blast to play, than omega force makes their own fate game with samurai, funny how things work out, really enjoying it so far

As a fate fan There's no English dub I will say a English Dub for me make no sense be the game is like ghost of tsushima it surperior where it better in Japanese than in English Dub the English dub often time butchering the characters.

Considering how heavily Japanese the setting is this time, I don't think a lack of ENG dub is a big detriment, personally

That was pretty much the only way to experience it, and there's still no adaptation of the first route, Fate. I don't count that one anime because it combines elements from all three in some nightmare scenario.
