It makes sense that this is what he would do to protect his family. Remember in the main timeline Goku was barely able to keep up with Vegeta because of kaioken. In this timeline he's barely at Raditz level and doesn't even have the kaioken. Had they actually landed, Nappa most likely would have killed all of them with ease

essa historia teve muita coisa incoerente. a começar que piccolo nessa epoca nunca iria causar dano nenhum em raditz devido diferença de poder (exceto pelo makankosappo). a parte das naves é mais zoado ainda, pois tanto raditz quanto nappa ou vegeta iriam sobreviver se colidissem, mesmo assim não tem sentido já que os 2 iam levar bastante tempo pra chegar a terra
