Unfortunately we can't force people to be courteous or respectful. Thankfully there are more of us in this world than them. The best thing to do is lead by example & spread kindness & respect for each other, for animals & take care of these gorgeous landscapes & nature. Talking to each other in an unthreatening way like Roe did will go a long way I think... but then there are exceptions where you have to stand up for yourself if needed.

Lake Mead used to be my favorite place. Now its impossible. Overcrowded, garbage everywhere and idiots blasting stereos to where the sound travels for literally miles, anywhere between midnight and 6am. The rudest people I've ever seen. Havent been back since April. It's sad. I dont know why people feel the need to park and camp right next to us with all the land available. No clue what they're doing

The sad part of wanting to enjoy your camping trip is rude people who think they are more important then anyone else. They are ignorant people with very little education in dealing with fellow human beings.

There are people, usually locals everywhere you might go, who go out of their way to make the camper’s experience uncomfortable enough that you will leave or never come back. I’m a new RVer. In our second full hook up camp our neighbor emptied their black water tank every day and only when we were outdoors. He definitely took measures that created more smell than is normal. When he completed his task he looks at us and says, “have a nice day. “

You guys are a treasure to the RV community. I'm glad you all are doing well. Ever since the craziness of "That Which Can't Be Named" and the influx of new RVers I have been appalled at some of the things I have been witness to. The most evident is the lack of etiquette and the amount of trash in both boondock areas and RV sites. When we first started the full took time lifestyle... it seemed most RVers were proud veterans and retirees who just wanted to relax and enjoy the beauty of this country doing their best to be respectable contributors to the RVing community. This year, there seems to be an influx of entitled RVers who got into it to escape accountability and live by their own rules. I still love this life and the vast majority of my experiences have been positive, but I am not blind to the changes that are occurring. It's not an RV thing, it's just the changes that are taking place in our nation are slowly encroaching on a once sheltered lifestyle.

I've said it before and here it is again. If your child comes to our camp site to say hello or ask about our dogs. I will be kind and friendly. That kindness IS NOT an open invitation for the length of our stay. Come get your kid if they have visited someone for more than a few minutes.

I think our worst encounter so far was at an RV resort when we went to Disneyland. The parking and spaces were really well defined - you knew who's spot was who's very easily, and a couple pulled in with a smallish travel trailer and proceeded to set up using every bit of space they saw, regardless who's space it was. They also set up a small dog run (which was illegal) and had a Shepard mix that they would put out there first thing in the morning and ignore beyond that. I tried talking to them since they were parked in front of our RV somewhat to no avail, and the security for the resort had to finally tell them to either get it all within the boundaries of their space or leave, and the dog was NOT to be just left outside like that in an illegal run. They finally got told that they needed to leave since they obviously couldn't follow the rules of the resort that they agreed to when they checked in.

Ex Jerry Springer crowd definitely are going to become the newest fastest growing demographic in the RV industry. I use to prefer boondocking, but now I would rather have to pay for a spot where etiquette enforcement is onsite since more people seem to be lacking any sense whatsoever.

1: Bear River Resort. Neighbors roll in an start drinking and get louder and louder. My 2 little girls have to ask us about all the (bad) words they use in every sentence at yelling volume for 2 nights. Strange established campground. 2: National Forest land. Normal spot taken so we head down the road to the gate thinking we’d have the spot to ourselves. When we returned from creekwalk adventure the rest of the clearing was filled with cars. Fairly close to our popup and our friends tent. We were pissed. After a beer or 2 they came back and we couldn’t fault them for hiking the same area we were in but it really invaded our camp space. We put our anger aside and decided to be friendly with them. They didn’t drive over our rug though.

Great stories. Have you ever felt unsafe in one of these situations? We definitely encountered a Karen in Hoosier National Forest at Blackwell Horsecamp. She scolded us for parking in front of a hitching post. However there were no horses in camp at that time. Before we camped there I had contacted the ranger office to make sure we could camp there and make sure we didn't need a permit. Come to find out, she does not work for the NFS, but is a local horse enthusiast who doesn't like that NFS allows camping at the horsecamp. The six nights we were there we saw three horses-they didn't spend the night, just folks riding the trail, then left. Didn't even use any of the hitching posts. ~carol

I love your videos and I live vicariously through them! I could never get my wife to go RVing! I drive a truck and I completely get the personal space issues. I try to park as far from anyone as I can when taking a break and it never fails, no matter how much space is open for people to use they always have to park next to my truck and be loud when all I want is my 45 minute lunch break to be quiet! Apples and oranges, I know, but I completely understand the frustration when you are just trying to keep to yourself.

There was a creepy guy who wanted me to sleep with him. Then he asked me to dump his trash, and I said yes because I was going to dump mine, and he put grocery bags full of oil or grease in the back of my truck. It ruined my brand new jeans, soaked the wood I used to balance my TT, and I don't think I've been that angry for a long time.

I don’t have a rude rver story but a very rude and corrupt camp ground in NY. This just happened in accord Ny at Roundout valley resort campground. My wife was using the public shower one night and a peeping Tom came in and started to record her. She screamed and he ran away with no real description other then shoe color. Management and staff refused to warn anyone so my wife started to print flyers and warn people herself. The staff just continue to take down every warning flyer and not even 2 days later a 16 year old is attacked in the same bathroom and the staff and management still do absolutely nothing. Well except call the state police on us for putting up flyers to protect the women and children of this campground. So far thousand trails is the main company and not a peep from them. Don’t come here just a warning

Just a thought about the "donut spinners". Since you were in New England, could they have seen your license plates and just did not like "outsiders" where you were from? We have not had that that strong of an issue, but recently have run across some-how to put it nicely-unfriendly faces and body language when we were in other States - of course not many folks in the midwest and back east like people from California - even though we are from NORTHERN California . I keep thinking of covering our plates up when we are out of state...........

I just remembered I had a weird encounter in small town New Hampshire. I'm from Calgary and flew into LaGuardia to do an 8 day road trip through New England. In my rental car with NY plates, I went to turn left out of a strip mall. As I did, a lady facing me (also turning left from across the street) yelled through both our passenger windows, 'go back to New York!' I guess she didn't like outsiders either...

one i accidently did...... one morning camping, about 10 am, i have to go take a dump, so go find a spot where i can lean against a rock pretty close to normal.... drop this huge log, wipe .... as soon as i am done, and got my pants back up, i take like only 2 steps away.... turns out there was a road right there where that rock is, that i did not think about.... as i walk away, this truck with dude, wife and kid come around the corner and all 3 first thing they see is this huge log sitting there and me walking away from it, ofcourse their windows were open so they got the aroma too.... this was 30 years ago now, before anyone cared about burying crap or anything like that, just not leave bottles and cans around... and since we were in mountain, mt. charlston not too far from lake mead, other direction out of vegas, .... flies were all over it before it even hit the ground.... which they got to see the swarm also.... should have seen the look on their faces, all 3 of them lol.... it was laying on ground, with a streak down the rock right next to drivers door as they went by it.... did not do on purpose at all, did not even think about the road, just saw what looked like a prime pooping position and took it.

It's called multi-use. Recreation for some is enjoying the peace for others it's tearing around in an ATV. That's life. One of my worse experiences happened while camping at a state park and the people at the site across the road from us started a fire early in the morning, but they didn't actually start a fire. They were just burning trash and the smoke was coming straight across the road and into our RV. This continued for an hour. I finally went over and asked if they could either get it burning or put it out. They were clueless.

Ya, encountered some very rude people while camping at a lake in MI one time, but after about 10 min the bubbles stopped coming up so, it got quiet again... Seriously though, that's what you feel like doing. Most of the time, if they would just wait an hour to fire up their dirt bikes or four wheelers, they wouldn't bother anyone, but for some reason, some people have to get started at like 5 or 6 am. Just because you might be a morning person doesn't mean you can do anything you want while there are other people around. Just be courteous.

I would guess that the people in the last example were not thinking about you and Ro as people at all, but were probably feeling like they had somehow "claimed" that area exclusively for their own personal use (not thinking about it being public land!) and were angry that you were using it too. It reminded me a lot of your experience in Oregon NF with that crazy lady that told you guys that you couldn't camp on the forest road simply because she felt like that public road was exclusively hers to use. I think some people need to retake Kindergarten and learn to share with others!! 🤣🤣🤣

David, I’m surprised by your reaction to the naked guy. He was sitting in a chair keeping to himself. If a family drove by it’s an opportunity for the parents to explain that some people like to be naked. No shame. Don’t you remember gym class? Naked is natural.

Only naked time for me, is in the shower. Naked isn't natural to me, nor is it something most would see often, unless of course, you're a new born baby!

Cindy says "I Love to hear your guys stories! My rude story is pretty mild compared to yours...We were canoe camping, in Northern Ia. There was a guy, who was alone, he got company, at about dinner time. He cooked her dinner. A short time later, they went inside his tent, and had some romance. Some very Loud romance!!! This went on a few more times, during the night. Just when we thought they were done and we could get some sleep then it would happen Again! They acted like they were the ONLY two people in the whole world! Needless to say, after Not getting any sleep, we weren't very happy that next morning. We ended up having to ride the shuttle bus with them!!! I prayed that my husband wouldn't say anything to them. They could barely keep their hands to themselves. Thankfully my husband didn't say anything. He said to me afterwards " I wanted to say, "Did you have fun last night???" Like you said" We know how thin those tents are!" Go ahead and have "romance", but keep the volume down!" Have a little consideration for others.

And alittle more class for themselves. No matter how attractive they think they are, no one wants to hear (imagine) their _oinking.

Oh goodness! A naked person might be a surprise, but not really anything to be alarmed about. I've been to several nudist colonies and beaches and such. Nice people there. Nudist RVers do exist. Don't sweat the small stuff guys. Hehehe. Where I was raised, there was no shame in nudity, and I was taught there's nothing rude about the human body as a whole. We're there any specific rules on that land that "outlawed" nudity? If so, maybe he could have put up a little privacy screen or something, just to save you blushing. 😁

@@007nadineL just because the fellow liked to sunbathe in the nude?? Lawdy, I myself used to garden in the nude when I had a farm and my nearest neighbor was three miles away or so. If someone came up the drive, I usually saw them and put on a robe. Hehehe. I'm the farthest thing from any stalker. That fellow there has probably used that particular campsite for tears.
