That's very mature and smart of anthony to see what his father was actually trying to do,.. It's all about the intention, and when you realize that with your parent or parents... It's very healing.

Only Anthony Kiedis can pull off that hair style. I wish I had straight hair like him. Growing it long would be a piece of cake. Instead, I have thin wavy hair that is only good for short hair styles. I have grown it long enough to put it in a pony tail but it was a ball breaking experience. I am going to try one more time now on the verge of turning 35.

Iggy Pop pulls it off too...Anthony Kiedis reminds me so much of Iggy Pop...If I didn't already know otherwise, I'd say he was his son

Anthony hit the nail on the head. I figure his dad understands the consequences of how he raised Anthony now, but you know what they say about hindsight and clarity. But I'll tell anyone this: even straight-laced parents can hurt their children. As sheltered as my own childhood was, I was still profoundly damaged by how I was raised. I am still recovering to this day. I don't think the specific mistakes parents make matter as much as the life lessons their children gain from them.

I absolutely love how Anthony owns his behavior, too often today youl see young adults plaming everything thats wrong with them on their parents or society when at a certain age no matter who was involved in your upbringing you have to own it and make the best out of it. After a while its who you are and you find ways of dealing with your life and bettering yourself. Never did Anthony say his drug addiction was his dads fault, though he clearly stated his fathers mistake. Good music. Great mind.

It's true. I was sheltered most of my adolescence so, once I was introduced to the drug circle, I did as much, as often as I could because it felt good to be socially accepted. Thankfully when the smoke clears(literally) you see your true friends and hopefully gain wisdom from it.

I don't think what his dad did was right, however...it's's great to see how forgiving Anthony is... and the approach he has towards his Dad.

I have read Scar Tissue when I was 16 and it made me realize how drugs could affect you and your mind. I'm glad Anthony is clean, have learned from this and grew up. And he seems a great father to his son too. I never have use drugs, thanks to his story.

No matter what, giving acid to a twelve year old is a very bad idea. Even if other kids were doing it, doesn't mean its right. I can't believe the people who praise Blackie for raising Anthony the way he did. We can see the moral decay is in full bloom, especially when Anthony said "I wouldn't raise my kid that way", "my dad never realised how deadly drugs can be". So I guess Blackie never paid attention to all the dead rock stars from drugs.

jlarsena You have to think, though, if Blackie raised him the "right" way, I doubt we'd even have an RHCP, and if we did, it would be very, very different.

+jlarsena Right, Anthony knows full well his dad messed up, but of course he's not going to demean him he is still his father, and as much is I love the Chili Peppers, its a real blessing Anthony is still alive today, a lot of drug addicts aren't so lucky.

John Frusciante once said (this is the gist) that all parents have some sense of carelessness when it comes to developing their kid's sexuality but I think parents a fairly careless when it comes to just raising them. FUCKED UP ADULTS UNITE! (im barely an "adult". 18)

I would've loved my dad to get me laid like Anthony's dad did. Let me tell ya that much! And I'm being totally serious too. When you reach a certain age and don't have sex it starts to really make you feel insecure whether it should or should not be the case. Oliver Stone's dad did the same for him too

False. Depressants have nothing to do with your mood. Its referring to the effect on your Central Nervous System, which becomes very lethargic and temporarily dysfunctional under the influence of certain drugs.
