My Aunt, who lived in the suburbs with my cousins, came into the city to visit us. Once she found out I didn’t know how to ride a bike, she forced me to learn. She held on to the back of the bike as I peddled. Over and over, up and down the sidewalk. All of a sudden I realized my Aunt couldn’t run as fast as I was going. Sure enough, she’d let go long ago and off I went on that bike. I learned to ride in one day. That was a good memory to recollect.

Uriah being able to clearly articulate at 7 that he doesn't believe in himself says a lot about the good parenting you both do. It's awesome to see you immediately acknowledge and reaffirm him. Though he said it was the worst day of his life I believe he'll look back at this day as one of his most valuable days. You all are beautiful

Yes indeed! Parents judge their own kids and when they don't it creates a safe place for them to come to you about anything and everything. You never know how your baby is going to see the world so it's crucial we are that safe place for them. Physically and mentally.
@mamadferguson9502 жыл бұрын
@@ellie3365 there's a difference in acknowledging that Uriah can clearly articulate a feeling he is experiencing (particularly feelings children nor adults are often given space to express) and stating the children are so articulate. The latter will be viewed as racist as it is about how they speak. The former is about what they think and are expressing.

This blessed me. Uriah seems to be the example of many people who often doubt themselves until we listen to what The Father says to us through his word about who we are because that’s who he created us to be before we even realized it. God’s words compel us to keep going even through falls and tears because we soon understand that what He says is really true and has been all along. We just have to keep what he says at the forefront of our minds. That’s the challenge! Uriah kept hearing his father’s voice and his mind began to transform from “I can’t” into “I can, and I will today!” Uriah went from not wanting to be bothered with a bike to wanting a dirt bike once he realized the truth. His father’s voice gave him hope and encouraged him to “see” success before it was within his reach because his father reminded him beforehand and continued to recite what he said before. We can do whatever The Father says. Period. We just have to be close to hear His voice. Whew! 😢

A friend's husband was in his forties and had not learned. She said there was a program in the park where they taught people and they did so by removing the pedals. They would have people just coast on the bike to get the sense of balance and where to sit. Once they had that down they would put the pedals back on, and it seemed to go more easily for him

So proud of Uriah. It’s never as hard as you build it up to be in your head. I taught myself how to ride a bike at 5 years old. I asked my dad to take my training wheels off because I wanted to be like my big sister. My parents didn’t think I would actually learn so young. But one day they looked out the window and I was teaching myself. When I get discouraged about something I always try to remember that I’m the same little girl that was determined to do something and did it all by myself.

My husband and I are new to your KZbin community and immediately subscribed after seeing what a great fam you have. At 31 yrs old we’re about to be parents for the 1st time and need so much advice and guidance for our baby girl. That’s why we subscribed, because you Both as parents are a great example. The way we were both brought up as kids is the typical, “you’re small, you don’t know what you’re saying, stay quiet when adults are talking, getting spanked for no reason, or disregarded” we grew up with so much fear. We understand now that most of our adulthood problems are because of our childhood. Like riding a bike… since I was the chubby kid, my parents disregarded me for any type of physical sports. Long story short, my husband and I are working really hard to break our fears and work on becoming educated, less fearful of life so that we can help our baby girl be independent, confident, respectful, responsible.. thank you for all the light you bring into this world with your beautiful fam. 🧡🫶

This video was emotional to me. Seeing a parent having taught their kids how to properly communicate and allowing them express themselves is just so refreshing. When I was younger if I tried to communicate any negative feeling of fear, sadness or uncertainty I'd be so quickly shut down by my parents and told to only speak positively making me extremely quiet and reserved because I felt no one understood. It's amazing to see someone doing it right and letting them express their fears but also letting them know you're there. I'd definitely do this when I'm a parent ❤

I loved what Belief said at 2:57. Basically it's our responsibility as parents to guide our children in the right direction to ensure they have the best future. Seemingly simple activities like bike riding or swimming increase your quality of life. We can't wait for my children to tell me what's right, that's what they are looking to us for; reinforcement and guidance.

As a kid I was extremely similar to Riah, scared to try new things and often discouraging myself and i was a daddy’s girl so I leaned on my dad to support me and help me through those times and eventually I wanted to do better for myself because I had his support. It means so much when parents are present and active in helping their children achieve milestones regardless of how small they are and this video was beautiful and did an amazing job in showing that even with the smallest or more larger bit of support your child will want to accomplish things for themselves not just because you say they have to. well done! i love this season of fatherhood, keep it up. edit: I have to admit given the past Riah videos i was wondering if the “spoiler alert he didn’t do it” was going to make an appearance but i’m glad it didn’t 😂
