I'm alone, and gotta say Father John knows how to let it flow in so many songs.... often long and sorrowful, while always beautiful and sensitive He is like something from out of the 60s..... DEEPER down inside.

@@who7063 bc I am a musician also the chords are D, Em, Gmaj7, I know the his fingerings he’s using are different because the low e is dropped to a D. that’s why he’s playing 2nd fret on the lowest string during the 2nd chord, he’s playing an Em there but the low e is now a D thus 2nd fret.

What are the chords he is playing here? I see D and Em but what's the chord up the fret board? Where are his fingers? Anyone?
@JoshewhaBoe6 жыл бұрын
Peter Dovey Not sure if you know by now but here it is: He plays in D Standard, which is a whole step down from the basic tuning of E Standard. With that in mind, the chords he plays on this song live are D, Em, and G. The way he is fretting the G here is x5535x which is essentially the E-shaped G chord without the barre. Fun fact, he plays this song down a whole step live, whereas the record version is in E, a whole step up. Understandable, given that it’s a vocally demanding song with lots of reverb and vocal layers.
