Watching her meet her mom was beautiful as well. There's something about watching reunions like that, it's amazing how much relief you see in the parents. They were expecting to be rejected and unforgiven and yet here comes their baby running into their arms. Dad looks like he's on top of the world and no one can bring him down.

And Yes, I was not a good father for leaving all of them. But, my feeling to all my children is an unconditional love. I am a retired 68yrs old now and there is not a days that I don't think about them. I will go back to America on 2022 see all of them. To say goodbye to all of them. Thank you Kyle for another segment of this family reunification, I've enjoyed it. In my extended family there is a similar story of Hung and the 5 siblings. My dad sponsored his two cousins (who I call uncle) from Vietnam to come live in Calgary. One of them dated a caucasian woman and had two daughters. One day, that uncle got arrested for drug trafficking and his children (who would be my cousins) got taken into children services. This was all surprising to the entire family with the arrest and the children getting taken away. Fast forward, those cousins probably would be around the same age as the 5 siblings, however sadly no one has any idea what happened to them not even my uncle. So to the 5 siblings, it's a blessing that you were able to meet your father again (who is a piece of living history as he is a boat person) and be good to each other!
@RonGee
@RonGee 2 жыл бұрын
Encourage your uncle to submit his DNA to the two big genetics companies, 23andMe and Ancestry. Or maybe you and/or your family can buy a kit for him (they're about a hundred dollars each). Then if his kids ever get curious about finding him, and they submit their own DNA, they'll be able to locate each other.

Your dad is quite an interesting and fun person, and it would be a blast to watch you all explore your Vietnamese roots with him. Aside from that, I think many of us are curious about his back story, as well as your back story with your adopted family (if they’re willing to be public). @@saylor22 There were a few favorite moments! It's always emotional when good things happen, like everyone finally got to meet their mom and dad. I can see the genuine heartache of the dad, in tears knowing what happened in the past really hit his present and future. Forgiveness is always one of the importance of life but love is the ultimate gift. Without love there is no forgiveness. With no honor, there's no love. Another one that I really enjoyed was the awkwardness of Chu Hung's attitude when he would act around his kids. Like the chants, singing, etc. I know that feeling well bc my dad did the same thing to make my brother and myself feel very uncomfortable but yet, in the end, it brought joy!

It is how it should be. Children honoring (and loving) their parents no matter what happened in the past. It is as it should be, the love remaining, the wish for a coming together. We parents are not always how we should be, and oftentimes it is the children who, I won't say suffer, but, are affected. You all are blessed in that you came to be adopted by good people. Well done to tell the story of anh Hung and the children, Kyle! It's a wonderful story! I am happy to see the emotions of the children and those of anh Hung come through in this story. I can also see some awkwardness in the interactions of the children and in Saylor's testimony. It's natural. It's the true and raw emotions. I suspect that there are many questions (and emotions) amongst all parties. And perhaps it is most evident in the boy's reservations. It tugs at our heart-strings to hear Saylor say that she wants to visit her father's homeland and learn about Vietnam. It would make for some fun video production and the story would be very appealing to your Vietnamese audience - me included. A part of me thinks the universal message that would appeal to a broader audience is that of the adoptive parents and how they have processed this chapter of their children's lives. How are they coping? What emotions and questions do they have as they watch these children, whom they have raised for 16-18 years through their formative years, go through this? I am glad to see that Mrs. Martin is present in this video to support her 2 daughters. It can't be easy for her - nor for the Allans. I'm speaking from first-hand experience because, I too, discovered my biological father and sister who are still in Vietnam. And I have to consider the feelings of others before my own - in such a similar process. Good luck to the whole family in their journey.
