Father Richard's and CAC's teachings are exactly what is needed to reform the church, to create interreligious dialogue and heal the world. His teachings are truly catholic (καθολικός katholikos 'universal') and recognizable by every open human heart! We may be witness to, and participants in, a new movement of love with the capacity to learn from the past, live in the now and sow seeds for at bright tomorrow! Spread the good news! :-)

Yet Jesus said: Be ye separate, touch not the unclean thing, I am the way, the truth and the life - no-one comes to the Father but by me, and God’s end time people keep His commandments, how can two walk together unless they agree? No - I do not accept ecumenism at the expense of truth. This unbiblical Jesuit teaching of mysticism, contemplative prayer and spiritual exercises are pure evil. Richard and all these here are propagating Babylonian evil. May the Lord have mercy on them and may they repent from their sins and come to the light. 😢🙏 I truly cannot believe the evil of this material. 😢

Life changing book. It’s opened my eyes to see why the Rich Young Ruler, the Prodigal son’s brother, and Pharisees struggled, which are all the same reasons I struggle to surrender to Jesus. We need to continue to embrace, while moving beyond the 10 Commandments into a heart of the Beatitudes, which is a place of purity (devotion), peacemaking (non-dualism), and poverty of spirit (true self without egocentrism).

The whole lecture is a gem, but what he starts to say at 35:00 is especially rich. The messages of culture in the US, esp thanks to Hollywood and social media, have blinded us in so many ways. I’m very late to this comments thread but I’ll still say: most of the people on this thread seem to yearn for connection and community instead of arguing about each other’s faith tradition. I love those people. I’d be lucky to be stranded on a desert island with them

Love love love love love love!!! this. Praise God! God bless Fr. Rohr for courageously professing these shocking facts and intriguing mysteries of faith. Be sure to listen to the end, his comments on John 14:6 alone are worth the price of admission. Aspects of the talk are likely to unsettle most Christians, initially. But ask God for the courage to open to these messages and they could usher your Christian spirituality to an unexpected new level of maturity, wisdom, and power. Amen!!

I just want to give thanks I was led to your You Tube posts Father Rohr. So much of what God has revealed to me over the years is the same you have put into words. I can say over the years, "I questioned Lord, why are others not seeing You in All your creation? Why is it not seen a house divided cannot stand? that Oneness is unity and Love of All. I had wandered off in these questions thinking maybe I have misunderstood like so many of my Christian friends are telling me. Anyway, Thank You! As I listened to several of your posts my spirit jumped and my Joy returned... my name means Reborn and as I listened I heard, "now will you open the door again and follow me committed and Trusting what I reveal?" Answer: Yes, Yes, a thousand times yes. I say all the time " God is on time, all the time" and once again He was thru your posts.

I thought I was ahead of the crowd with Richard Rohr, having discovered his writings when "Things Hidden" was published. But I left him alone for about 7 years; discovered "Breathing Under Water", and as I was excitedly telling my AA buddies about the book, one of the guys says rather casually: "Yeah, we know about Father Rohr. Check him out online. He's got some good video lessons". That was about 2 weeks ago. Well, at least all of you confirm my feelings about Fr. Rohr's explanation of transformative spirituality. Yeah! mark

He said he does not stop at a stop signs if there is no one there. The reason to stop every time, or at lest try, even if no one is there (other than to avoid a ticket) is for that one time, when you are distracted, you stop anyway out of habit, and avoid hitting a pedestrian or other car you did not see.

Richard is the living example of the paradox he discusses in all of his books and helps each of us to pry open our dualistic minds to more and more learn to accept the world and everything in it as perfect just the way it is. There are no mistakes in God's world. Unless we can learn to see life this way, we can never be happy or peaceful people.

Consider the emotions of fear and love at opposite ends of a frequency spectrum. We are naturally beings of a particular frequency/vibration that is typically much higher than the thoughts we have. It's by calming those lower frequency thoughts/emotions that allow the idea of "falling in love" which is a parallel of "falling upward" (in frequency). So... quiet your mind... and let yourself "fall" into Love.

That's not love. That's self deception. You want to know what the love of God really is? He tells you plainly in His Scriptures: In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and gave His Son to be the propitiation (satisfying sacrifice) for our sins. (1 John 4:10) For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes on (totally trusts) Him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16) But God showed His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8) Love comes down to us from God, it's not something we fall into (not even up into). Only once we have received the love of God - when we put faith in the total remission of our sins by His Son's death and resurrection - can we then love one another.

You have only learned from the scripture of man. Try 1 John 2:27 and John 16:13. Stop reading and start listening to the Spirit.

Krowten Tenretni The Scriptures are not of men but of God. Or do you not believe 2 Tim 3:16-17? John 16:13, within the immediate context of the preceding and following verse (John 16:12-14) was a promise made by the Christ to His disciples - that for now they were confused by the wonderful revelations He had made to them - and that they were not able to bear or understand more, even though He had much more to tell them - this being because they cold only understand it based on their education/learning and not with their spirits which were still dead within them as Christ had not yet died on the cross - and that following His death, resurrection, and ascension, God would send His spirit to indwell and teach those who put their trust in the finished work of Christ on the cross to pay for their sins and trust in His resurrection as the promise of eternal life with God. It is THIS spirit that was given on Pentecost; that was responsible for the subsequent books and letters written and collected as the New Testament; and it is this same Spirit that gives life to every soul that is dead in their trespasses and sin the moment they put their faith in the Faithful One, Jesus. It is this same Spirit, that is mentioned by John in 1 John 2:27 where John calls it "anointing" - a seal - which is in perfect agreement with the rest of Scripture and the seal and the Holy Spirit are clearly identified as synonymous in Eph 1:13 It is God's Spirit, God the Spirit, the Holy Spirit that quickens, and seals, and teaches us, and it is the Word of God, by the Spirit of God which contains the knowledge, wisdom, and instruction from God. The "spirit" you would have us listen to, which would be apart from reading the Word of God, can only be the spirit of deception.

And to this day men have more faith in words than in Spirit. Dependent on the written word for guidance. When you realize your true self.. Your connection to creation.. You'll know the Spirit is beyond words. Words are for the brain... The Divine is beyond the brain.

How do we live in both/and way? How do we transcend what we've learned before but include all beings, all traditions? How can we cultivate an "elder' way of being that Richard describes, so that we can tolerate ambiguity, navigate uncertainty, live with an open heart and be receptive to what is emerging? Thank you Richard.

I don’t presume to answer for Father Richard, but I would encourage you to keep reading his books and his teaching on non-dualistic thinking. Answers to important questions are rarely a simple yes or no. This type of thinking creates a tribal mentality and sets one tribe against the other. It’s win/lose thinking. Non-dualistic thinking creates space for larger perspectives from people who are dissimilar to us. It’s compassionate thinking. It’s win/win thinking. It’s letting go of ego thinking. I hope I’ve related adequately what I’ve learned from RR. Don’t take it from me. Keep reading.

Dear Richard, I understand what you mean by the 'container.' I also understand what you mean by 'transcend and include,' although I don't think I'm there yet. I was given a very good container by my parents, however what I feel distressed about at times is that approximately 6 years ago, I stopped going to church. I was not able to say the 'new?old' language that had been brought in, I couldn't take the continued discrimination against women, with the parish priest having a tantrum over a female, once asking to give a small homily instead of him, the priest actively forbidding anyone to come to the small morning tea gathering that I held for the Eucharistic ministers to get to know each other and ultimately it was only myself who turned up. I realise that this is all level one, I realise that this is all ego and non-transformation but I walked out as I was returning home angrier from mass than when I went to go an hour earlier. The last 5 years I feel I have been in what must be an incredible dark night of the soul. However, what I am a little distressed about is that when I stopped going, I told my husband and my children (then mid-late teens) all about my anger over the behaviour, the institutional injustice and as a result my children, now young adults do not attend church either. I feel like maybe I deprived them of this part of the container. Should I have kept going just in order to get them to go? Have I contributed to their having less of a good container? At present they are very happy secure young adults and we debate the larger things in life. I feel that the best I can do in my transforming (into im not sure what) is that I listen and be there for them, communicate love, present moment-ness, to be aware of the importance of Be-ing, the awareness of 'the others' as Bill Plotkin says and to have a deep gratitude for everything. You won't be answering this, but I just had to put it out there. I hope I haven't deprived them of part of the essential 1st half of life container. Thankyou.

Templetiger, just lift it all to God in prayer (your past, your family, yourself) and He will know what to do. The important thing is the now. Hope you can still go to church and relate in love with your parish priest and your old friends in the Eucharistic Ministers Group. You can also invite your wife, children, grandchildren to go with you. May the Holy Spirit grant you this grace. God loves you very much!
