You will very very rarely see a Aussie artist lip sync, our singers have pride in themselves 👏👏
@kane29842 Жыл бұрын
The singers aren't, but the band is absolutely miming over a backing track.
@Rassskle Жыл бұрын
@@kane29842 You might be right, but it’s highly unlikely......unless pre recorded and then mined to perfection in most parts. SINGERS hate performing to recorded music more than mining....... they want to react to the musicians performance and vice versa. I have watched this video many times and seen the visual so out of sync with the audio it reminded me of Classic Theatre and other low budget mimed Greek movies. I have seen the drummer going for it when there was no drums. I have also seen this full page and flawless. If pre taped then when the internet is flawless, so is the performance. Mark can play the guitar ..... he doesn’t need to pre tape his solo or general playing. The other musicians should all be of session quality...... orchestra quality. That’s technically better than my favourite rock musicians, and probably better than every musician you think is a musical GOD.
@kane29842 Жыл бұрын
@@Rassskle it’s not unlikely at all. Hey hey it’s Saturday is notorious for using backing tracks for the musicians. They even made Tommy Emmanuel mime when he was playing with Dragon. This is 100% a pre recorded backing track with live vocals. It’s nothing to do with the musicians skill and everything to do with the producers and sound engineers. Countdown was the same.
@Dr_KAP Жыл бұрын
@@Rasssklehe’s right they used a backing track for this performance. A few reactors have picked up on it, it’s quite obvious when you watch the musicians 😂
@Rassskle Жыл бұрын
@@kane29842 I did say it could be true....... if true, then when the audio and visual match up over the internet , they are all doing a brilliant acting job. Better than any Hollywood movie. Never met John or Jimmy myself, but they would have hated singing live to canned music...... it stifles the creativity and energy.

I saw John’s biographic movie yesterday. We got an early screening before it has been released on May 18th for Mother’s Day. I knew most of what was in it and it was amazing, sad, painful and happy. Olivia Newton John’s voice sounded not right like she was sick and so did John’s. Gaynor Wheatley, Glenn’s wife did most of the talking including losing her husband to complications from Covid. That must have been so hard for her. If you are going to see this movie take tissues. John’s manager was horrible but John is so nice it took him 9 years to fire him. I love this song. Listen to John singing Black Dog by Led Zeppelin. It was his sound check song and warm up. I did find out he finally recorded it but on an album called Rarities that I have never heard of. I found it about a month ago. Or listen to John singing Burn For You. He wrote one of the three verses to his wife. You have more than 50 years of John’s music to explore. He is our Legend and The Voice. Richard Marx was right when he said he was the greatest living voice anywhere alive today.

All the suggestions so far have been great and I’d just add Jimmy Barnes singing with his son, David Campbell. They are like two peas in a pod and David used to sing cabaret in New York nightclubs some years back. They do a great version of “You’ll Never Walk Alone” at Carols By Candlelight. The fatherly pride from Jimmy is palpable. (FYI the concept of Carols By Candlelight was created in Australia.) Also, there’s a great video of John Farnham and his backing singers Venetta Fields, Lindsay Field and Lisa Edwards singing “Mary’s Boy Child” and “You’ll Never Walk Alone” at another Carols By Candlelight. This one shows the artistry of all four singers and John’s high notes are amazing.

The singing is live, the band performance is 100% miming over a backing track. This is most obvious not just from the fade-out, but from Diesel absolutely not playing the licks you can hear at about 5:40 (in this video). If you want to do a 'compare and contrast', there's a live performance of Cold Chisel (with Jimmy Barnes) performing 'When the War is Over' from 2003 (the 'official' live video), this is a song that Farnham performs a solo version of - the version where he's a bit older than here, in his mid 50's from 'The Last Time' concert is the one to watch. Finally, if you want to see them perform the same song together, they do - but Jimmy is NOT at his best (in fact, he's comparatively awful). For Jimmy & Cold Chisel just absolutely tearing it up - their cover of 'Wild Thing' is a thing of absolute majesty.

There are many impressive things about Farnham - one of them is his versatility. You have already had a look at "Help" and "You're the Voice". You could go with Jeff Wilson's harder rock AC/DC cover suggestion "It's a long way to the top" from the same MSO concert (what a concert!!). For a total change of pace you could have a look at him playing around (literally!) with something more operatic - "Granada" with Anthony Warlow (he played the Phantom in the Aussie production of Phantom From the Opera) kzbin.info/www/bejne/gWfYqXmBoqiLeJo. Or his ballad duet with his great friend Olivia Newton John - "Please Don't Ask Me". kzbin.info/www/bejne/aKa5kKeQhKmZgZo - The onstage chemistry was amazing.

I’m just going to leave this link here, for Jimmy singing during Covid where he posted free videos to entertain us all….. I worked everyday throughout during this stressful period, he helped me greatly. He is singing with his family and Ian Moss. Jimmy and Ian shared vocals in their Band Cold Chisel. This is there song When the war is over….. I know everyone will point out the 2003 Ringside version, and it is truely the best version, but just so you know that in his 60’s Jimmy still has the best voice. Love Love Jimmy ❤❤❤ kzbin.info/www/bejne/ppS1Z4CCZbiUm9k Enjoy

Ah, I remember Hey Hey It's Saturday, don't think it lasted long in NZ on account of being Aussie trash (I exaggerate for comic effect, of course...), but every now and then you'd get something like this on it to make it all worthwhile!

Haha Ozwald Q Ostrich (Ozzie) is iconic and Hey Hey was on air 40 years so was an institution!
