Josh, great job teaching him how to wrench! Although it's not easy, it is certainly a DIY job. Y'all are now well prepared to do a water pump replacement. It's in the same area with similar access requirements, plus a motor mount removal, if I remember right. I have a 2007 CR-V with 226k miles. It's been a great little car.

@@billheinze1448 they are great cars. Brendan is driving the 2004 I use to have, and now James has the 2007. We’ve done starter, knock sensor, O2 sensor, shocks and struts, and rotors and pads. Gonna be CRV experts. 🤣

I’ve been having an impossible time putting that bottom right bolt back in! I will try taking off the fan bracket bolts or whatever they are tomorrow! Thanks for this video, very timely 😁

That was pretty much my exact experience changing the alternator in my 2011 Honda CRV. Although I ended up removing the upper hose and all the lowers on the radiator to make more room.

Next time you have to use a long extension to get a bolt out try putting a peice of paper towel over the bolt head. It will hold the bolt in the socket so you don't have to.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

It's not hard ,just make sure you have the correct tools. My son and I just did this on an 08 and completely did it on the ground only from the top.

That's the same motor that's in my 2010 Pilot. My alternator also replaced just a few months ago. Did the alternator have oil seepage into it from the VCM unit just above it? That's notoriously the culprit in killing the alternators, oil leaks into the alternator burning it out. I had a new VCM unit with new gaskets installed at the time the alternator was done so it'll be good for another 200K+

Yes it did have oil all over it.

@@Nine_Finger_Wrenching my bad, i thought that was the V6, V-tec engine. Apparently they didn't incorporate the VCM on the 4cyl version (yet). Something else goobered it up from above. Maybe a previous oil leak that got fixed but oil on the alternator did its dirty work after the fact.

You might be better off lowering the subframe about 6 to 8 " to get it out again if nedded
