It wasn't the Big Lebowski, it was Ballykissangel. At the time that this episode of Fr. Ted was made Ballykissangel was one of the biggest and most popular shows on Irish tv. These were the actors from the show playing the characters from the show and it was one of the best cameos in a Fr. Ted episode.

Dufflepod was referring to the very start of the video with the baby getting dunktised, if you will, with the "where's the money Lebowski" lines, then there's a shot of a hydrogen bomb going off before they played the Father Ted video. It was an intro to their intro, of the Father Ted video, where the Ballykissangel reference was at the start of said Father Ted video. You must have missed it and I can tell you, I was on the floor myself, as it was totally unexpected! I hope this makes sense, as I just got up and having my first coffee.😁

Ah that explains it. I was wondering how someone could confuse Ballykissangel with the Big Lebowski. I commenced watching at the start of the Fr. Ted episode and didn't see the first clip. When he said intro I thought he was referring to the Fr. Ted intro. I have since looked at the first clip, it all makes sense now. God I'm an awful edjit Ted.

The thing that makes Father Jack's "Women's knickers!" line even more hilarious, is the lead up to it, Ted innocently saying "You know what, I'd say it's probably just a lovely angel!" adds to what make's Jack's corking delivery of that line so timeless! :) I'd love it if somwhere there really was an advent calendar made in tribute, with things like women's knickers, and Ruud Gullit sitting on a shed behind the windows. 😂

As a person who once upon a time had a mildly interesting life, enjoying reaction videos was an alien concept to me, but is something I have grown to to love. I especially love the music reactions, seeing some African American, Jewish, Russian etc person getting a face full of Black Sabbath, AC/DC etc for the first time ever. I love that shit. 20:50 - that’s a spoof of dating chatline adverts that were around in the mid to late 90s. They always had cheap tempo music and flashy graphics. Don’t know if you had them in Canada but they were in pretty much every advert break on TV in the UK at that time. The internet killed off such chatlines.

That sounds like the famous Ecky Thump scene from The Goodies where a guy died laughing and his wife wrote The Goodies a letter thanking them for making his last moments so happy. This is no joke it really happened, I read about it in the Book of Lists 50 years ago. The KZbin video explaining it is called DIED LAUGHING - ALEX MITCHELL _ THE GOODIES / ( 1975 ) . On KZbin, the video from the Goodies TV show is named Kung Fu Kapers - Goodies.
