Just came across you guys on KZbin. Yous are so funny. My name is a good Irish ☘️ name.Eamonn from Ireland 🇮🇪. I see yous like to try a beer or two that’s from Ireland but you can’t beat a good old pint of the black stuff . GUINNESS. I see that yous love to whatch the show FATHER TED. It’s a LEGEND of a show. I have seen all of them and would go right back to the start and whatch them all over again because there so funny. It was so sad when the show came to an end. It was only because the man that plays father ted died while they were making the show. It’s sad. But what a funny show to whatch. Anyway thought I would say hello to the both of you. I could pick ones for yous to whatch but your probably going to whatch them all anyway. You seem to be really nice poeple and I’m glad I came across your channel now so have subscribed to your channel. Anyway keep enjoying the shows FATHER TED. Eamonn here from Ireland 🇮🇪☘️☘️☘️✌️. "cowboys Ted, their a bunch of cowboys!" 🤣 Dermot Crowley as Fr Liam Deliverance. I love watching this episode and comparing Dermot Crowley's character with his dramatic roles in other films, such as THE FOREIGNER, with Jackie Chan and Peirce Brosnan for example. A great actor, so he is. "Sure, you could talk that in to coming down" 😂 love it, only top notch quality for Father Liam Deliverance!

In case anyone's wondering what confused the sign language interpreter early in the episode, it was the lyric 'Tir na Nog' which refers to an old Irish fairy tale about a mysterious island ruled by women, a land of eternal youth. It's probably no coincidence that one of the main characters in this story is called Niamh.

@@scottbuckley823 @Scott Buckley I don't think I understand the first part of your reply. Do you *disagree* with _"Because Ted said not all priests are like that ..."?_ So, do you believe all priests *are* like that? I'm not Catholic. I dislike the Catholic church for all of its positions than come to mind. However, like Ted, I also don't think *ALL* Catholic priests _are_ sexist misogynists. You went on _"... and puts up a fake front about being progressive when really he was a fraud ..."._ We agree Ted was clearly fake. He wasn't fooling anyone in the audience. So by being *very clearly fake*, Ted undermines himself. He make himself a figure for ridicule, and, hence, also makes the church ridiculous. That seems to be absolutely the _opposite_ of the episode taking the church's side. The singer *was* an extreme character. That's part of the humour. More than one party can be "wrong" in comedy, and for different reasons. Comedy isn't limited to only two positions; it can be more than "black or white". The singer held exaggerated views. That made it even funnier when she beat Ted, then relented, showing she was a decent person. Niamh did a wonderful thing, by getting Mrs Doyle a night off every week. She took Mrs Doyle to the best restaurant on the island, AFAWCT for a free dinner, then scolded her for eating meat. Niamh wasn't perfect. That _is_ humour. Outside of Disney, *no one* is perfect. _Summary: that episode did not take the church's side, or put a positive light on it. Also, the singer, Niamh, was shown as someone with unrelenting, near dogmatic views. A great contrast. 🤔 However, Niamh did the kind and decent thing, allowing the fathers to stay in the parochial house, _and_ negotiated regular respite for Mrs Doyle._ Best Wishes. ☮ I've visited the USA several times each year for a decade. Then lived and worked there for most of another decade. *All* of my friends, colleges and acquaintances had normal senses of humour. Are you one of those mythical Americans who don't understand irony? 🤔

@@gbulmer Well I am Catholic and Irish and around this time in 1996 was when it was exposed that thousands of women were locked up by the catholic church from the 20's to the 90's for being unwed and pregnant. They were forced to work in commercial laundries while thier babies were sold to Rich Americans or Forced to give up their kids 'better' Irish people. So I know what I'm talking about the singer was in the right. Priest helped cover up around 70 years of abuse, neglect, inhumane treatment of children and women. We're discovering mass graves of children in Ireland. So please don't tell me what I actually know about and even have relatives who went through this.

@@scottbuckley823 I am deeply sorry for you and your families experiences. I know about those events. I first learned about them from _Joni Mitchell - The Magdalene Laundries (Live Toronto 1994)_ kzbin.info/www/bejne/d4XEd6x_l8lonrs . I think I appreciate your feelings a little. They were Nazi-level atrocities. I am not a Catholic. I can't defend that church. I will only say, not all Nazi's were hung or imprisoned. I hope you and your family have found peace, or at least solace. ☮
