It was said that when first shown on Irish TV, it was only during the 3rd series that the rural population finally realised it wasn't a "fly-on-the-wall" documentary... The previously unthinkable secularisation of Ireland in the last 30 years has been well explored by now, and I wonder how much this one TV show had to do with it.

Was lucky enough to see Dermot Morgan do Father Trendy, inspired by Father Brian D'Arcy, a media-friendly priest, in the Gaiety about 40 years ago. I'll never forget him descending from the pulpit to reveal spangly tights and start strumming a guitar. Father Ted was a creation a long time in gestation but my God what a creation!!

Was it a hill worth dying on? was it worth it? No, he lost everything. But he was right to stand up for himself and he didnt deserve to lose everything for it

Tentacles of Doom ("three bishops, all at once!") is by far the best, followed by Hell (the holiday) and Grant Unto him Eternal Rest (where Father Jack dies). Kicking Bishop Brennan and Speed 3 are the best out of Series 3 but nowhere near the quality of most of Series 1 and 2.

They'll never make things like this anymore trust me get it on dvd to keep before it gets taken down by the offended by everything crowd it already has been deemed mildly offensive by channel 4 so only a matter of time 👍

@@wakeup2theNWO If I hadn't seen the full episodes then why would I be saying that it's the best sitcom? I watched plenty of clips on KZbin from movies and tv shows that I have seen it their entirety. Also I'm pretty sure most people watching this video have seen full episodes of it.
