I was raised Catholic and attended Mass regularly throughout my life. That said, I have always harbored deep doubts concerning God and the validity of my beliefs. Fr. Dave, in the way he explains, helps to erase many of my lingering concerns. Thanks Father Dave.

It was exactly 6 months ago that my furbaby (pictured) passed away on 1/27/2022; My cat & I would watch your mass every Sunday via KZbin...I was present when the veterinarian told me that he had passed away/and was gone, after the euthanasia was completed. I witnessed all of this, because I was the only mama that he had ever known. His spirit ascended into heaven & he will come to me again, when God calls me home to him. Blessings.

Here is a story that a priest or a nun once told me. I cannot remember which it was. A guy died and met his dog at the rainbow bridge. After an incredibly happy reunion they crossed the bridge together and followed a path that after a while led to some pearly gates and behind it was the most beautiful site, he a had ever seen. Upon reaching the gates an angel greeted them and told the man he could enter but he would have to say goodbye to his dog as the dog was not allowed in. He looked at his dog who had been his loving and faithful companion for 14 years then he looked at the magnificent city beyond the gate. He then told the angel sorry but if my dog cannot come then I am not going. I go where he goes! Just as he began to walk towards his dog, his dog took off. He chased the dog up another path through an open gate to another angel. As he approached the angel, the angel welcomed him to heaven. Confused the guy asks what was that other place we just passed, I thought that was heaven? To which the angel responded no that was hell and that was a test to see if you were indeed worthy to enter heaven. Now both you and your dog may enter just follow your dog the rest of the way. He knows the path!

He asked me for the book too. Better yet he asked me to let his mom know about you on you tube so he could see more of you. And of course I will. My daughter is not Catholic so hopefully he'll bug her and they will tune in. I also watched Mass with him. he loves your sense of humor and i am sure you are reaching him in a different level, a spiritual level. Thank you. If this book should be published please say so. I like that you are talking about this subject. I've begun to look at it like this: even though animals don't have immortal souls (per Aquinas), the Scripture that says: "Behold, I make all things new again" allows me to hold on to the hope/idea that I will see my beloved cats again. So I think God can re-make their souls once we are in heaven (God-willing). Take care, Father Dave, and God bless you.

As a prior hospice nurse for 15 years, I believe this theory about GOD allowing the loved animals to greet the dying person at the heavenly gate. Many times, they actually come to assist the passage prior to death. Often the dying person will be talking to the dog before they die. If not a dog, usually is a small child or angel. Many hospice nurses have such stories of animals assisting the passage into the next life. Great theory. Always your thoughts and jokes…..

Bishop Sheen responded heaven is total happiness if you dog is needed to complete your happiness he/she will be there . Having had many dogs and cats in my life I’ve believed the Sainted Bishop. "Send forth Thy Spirit and they shall be created-and Thou shalt renew the face of the Earth", so the Psalmist says. The Church teaches that at the resurrection all creation will be renewed and transformed, and animals are part of creation. We sometimes forget that at the resurrection, our souls will be reunited with our bodies, and creation will be transformed and perfected. My kids sometimes ask me, "Daddy, where's Goldie (our Golden Retriever that died a few years ago). I tell them that Goldie's in heaven (or will be after the resurrection), and I explain to them what I wrote above. I certainly hope to see her there. God bless Father Dave and all of you.

Also, Psalm 35, v.7 (Ps.36 in the modern numbering) says, "Thou wilt save both man and beast, O Lord, in the way that Thou hast multiplied Thy mercies, O God". Some translations say 'preserve' rather than 'save', but the Latin Vulgate, an accurate translation from the Greek (originally Hebrew), says 'salvabis', which literally means 'save', not 'preserve'. Father Dan is right that animals are not 'owed' heaven, but neither are we for that matter, and we could not attain it if it were not for the infinite mercy of God shown to us in the sacrifice of Christ (note the last part of the verse that refers to God's mercy). Thunk on that fer a while ;). I'd be curious to know what your thoughts are on that, Father Dave. Y'all have a nice, Texas size day, which is kinda hard for me to do since I'm in Poland for a while (well, it better be just for a while) ;)

Re: raising up creation in Heaven "Amen, I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you." Matthew 17:20 (NABRE) He is using a metaphor in this passage, but maybe Our Blessed Lord is being somewhat literal as well; that is, those with faith can move mountains from here (Earth) to there (Heaven).

Father Dave, thank you for yet another video that's well worth watching and sharing. I'm looking forward to reading your book and hope you'll let everyone know when it comes out. One thing you may want to look into: I think cats were domesticated long before dogs. I think the reason dogs treat us the way they do is that they were divinely "wired" from day 1 to be members of a pack. Every pack has a leader and every other member of the pack wants to please the leader because that's the best way to survive out in the wild. After dogs became domesticated they retained this eagerness to see a "pack leader" and offer affection and obedience in that direction. Cats on the other hand were almost all loners back when their ancestors lived in the wild; lions are the only exception that I know of. Being a loner in the wild demands independence and a strong lean toward "looking out for Number 1." After cats became domesticated, they retained this way of relating to the world. But once a cat learns to trust a human, it shows affection in multiple ways -- an affection that can even be more rewarding to a person than the affection of a dog, because it doesn't happen automatically. Cats have even been known to attack people who are threatening that cat's owner. (Of course, in the cat's viewpoint, it's the cat that's the owner of the human. LOL) Dogs show "conscience"-like behavior because they understand when their behavior has displeased the "pack leader." Cats, on the other hand, have no "conscience"-like behavior. They will do whatever they want to do, but if their human says "No!" they will respect that -- for as long as the human is present; once the human leaves the cat alone, all bets are off. We see this as naughty behavior until we come to understand that, with a dog, you train the dog; with a cat, the cat trains you. Once we accept this, we can have beautiful experiences with both dogs and cats. May God bless you in your ministry, and keep you safe!
@treewalker10703 жыл бұрын
I don't think there is a strong case for cats being domesticated first. Dogs were originally domesticated as hunting partners. Cats were domesticated after humans started growing grain and attracting rats and mice. It was a win-win situation since the cats got plenty to eat and the humans got rodent control. BTW, what you say about cat affection having to be earned is true, but much of a cat's affectionate behavior is because when we pet a cat, it feels like a kitten being licked by its mother and that triggers the loving mother-kitten bond. Purring, for instance, is mainly a communication between a mother cat and her kittens.

What a wonderful answer to the proverbial age old question in re cats and dogs finding the stairway to heaven. Please put me down on an advanced order for this book for my library. I enjoyed your integration of philosophy and scripture to soundly make the case for our little critters - not the one who starred in the book All about me. I like to think about this in light of a book the littlest angel earns his halo. More importantly your answer illustrates how great and merciful God is if we just honor Him and follow his Commandments. I end this with a thought from a song - "who am that the Lord of all the earth should care to know my name". Peace be with you, Cragly, our little dog Reese and my perennial favorite Carmie (who is a cat) ergo I go on record to say yes I am a cat person meow ouch.

Hi Father Dave, After learning from a Micmac Elder, our Native Canadian & Native American brothers/sisters will share their teachings that all of the animals are in the North ( section) of Heaven, the Grandfathers, God, Jesus and all the men are in East, the grandmothers, Mary Mother of God, and all women in the West, and The Eagle/ Holy Spirit is in the South. I also like their teaching that when the sun comes up in the East, it is The Grandfather Sun, but then at noon, it changes into the Grandmother Sun and sets in West where Grandmothers reside. But all of the animals- dinosaurs, bear ( bringer of medicines) down to tiniest animals are found in the North... also connecting to Northern Lights? Fun! Jenny Stawinski 🦋🌸🥰🐶🦕🕊

I have the sense that God when Creates, that Creation is permanent. I feel that all living things will continue to exist in Heaven in some fashion, barring those creatures who are capable of making a choice and have used their freedom to reject God. Remember the little dog in Tobit? Also note how Jesus said in scripture that the lilies are clothed more beautifully than Solomon. I would not be surprised if those lilies that graced earth with their presence appear in Heaven with even more beauty. I also believe that our pets will enjoy an existence in Heaven, it just wont be the same as what humans experience. We will have a more fulfilling Communion with God in Heaven, since our vessels (souls) will be able to hold more of God’s Love and Grace than the other creatures and forms of life that shared the earthly experience with us.

Hi, quick question - from animals in heaven, plus potatoes🥔 Question ?? Would Marjorie be willing to share her Chicken 🐔 parm recipe? Just recently remembering having chicken parm years ago on top of some spaghett and that we haven't had any in years. I would really like to make some homemade fresh from scratch. We can't even find breaded chicken patties anywhere and you make it sound so delicious so I'm wondering if she'll share her recipe. Does or has St. Martha's ever put out a recipe booklet . With being sick I need to make a lot from scratch which doesn't have all kinds of weird artificial or chemical sounding shelf life ingredients that people can't even pronounce added to my food.. My old parish use to have a weekly flyer that use to list intentions for the upcoming mass and they use print it out , all before internet , and they started to add a different weekly recipe at times if people had one to share. Does St. Martha's have do anything like that on line?

Incredibly thought provoking and such an important subject for so many of us. Thank you for tackling it based on Scripture. I DO believe your theory and I believe that if God loves us so much, which He of course does, then He understands the important place many pets play in the lives of their people-parents. If we love God first and foremost - and He rewards us with the unconditional love and attention of a 4-legged creature (or maybe 100 legs if you love a centipede) then assuming we follow His commandments and strive for perfection with eyes and ears open, then surely one of our rewards will be not only eternity in heaven with HIM and all of the angels and saints but also our beloved non-humans too. I believe it. But first --GOD ABOVE ALL! Faith, obedience, humility, service...Rap on Padre🎸🎤 🎶 If you love your dear pets And believe you’ll both get To heaven by wishing it so, You’ve a few things to learn About heaven and God, Hence on Sundays to Church you must go. 🎶 Where God’s holy rapper, Elohim’s Stone Ten coach Warns God promises you’ll reap what you sow. 🎶 Thus open your ears, keep your mouth shut tight. And follow the Rapper’s lead. Soon the Lord up above will shed His bright light On your soul He so desperately needs. 🎶 If you do these things fervently and hear Father Dave Someday off to heaven you’ll go With your cow or your frog, your cat or your dog. That you need them, God already knows. 😈 But be vigilant, stay strong; eyes on the Divine Leader:✝️ Both God, AND St. Martha’s devout long-haired preacher. Lest caught unaware, whilst not paying attention You get yourself snatched by a fierce Purple People Eater.😈

10:20 Do you think "reason has uncovered that" ... we descend from some population of apes and are closer related to chimps than to gorillas by common ancestry? How about checking out the linguistic implications of this ... Apes have such ears that they cannot hear consonants, they have such throats that they cannot form vowels, they have such hyoids carrying such air bags that the vowels they do form get heavily distorted and amplified ... in other words, they could either not hear or not pronounce the kind of things that minimally make up human speech, common people speak of letters or sounds, linguists of phonemes. Human speech is organised into three levels by double articulation. The phrase level (which is meant to make _complete_ sense) is articulated into the next level, that of several morphemes (which make _incomplete_ but still sense, as in having a module of meaning, dog- meaning a specific kind of animal and -s meaning plural when added to nouns), and each morpheme is articulated into the next level, that of one or more phonemes, which have _no_ meaning on their own, but code with each other to specify the meaning in the morphemes. This type of organisation is obviously impossible for an ape and not known for any animal (even parrotts only call a hammer "hammer" when dealing with men who call hammers that). One type of communication cannot develop into the other.

I sure hope my boy Java is in heaven with me because that dog has literally saved me from myself on so many occasions he has saved my life. He has given me hope and he has been there for me when I needed him. I think they have pure, clean souls, and if the animals can bow on their knees at God, and they’re such goodness, I think there’s a good place for them. My mom would joke and say of course they’re going to go to heaven Saint Francis will be there he loves them.

Read the comments under any video about pets going to heaven and you won't find more than a thimbleful of Bible. What you find is _"I think....", "I believe....", I want....", "I dreamed...."_ Or, even worse, some version of _"God exists to give me what I want."_ The battle truly is lost. The Prince of Darkness has won.

A good dose of scripture, tradition, philosophy and reason is exactly what I am writing. Not a book for popular culture, but for those with a philosophical and theological mindset, I aim to show how it coheres.Thankd Isaac

@@FatherDave Interesting, Father Dave. Since the Bible has emphatically answered the question, "Can dogs go to heaven," I am struggling to understand just how tradition, philosophy and reason fit into the equation. Perhaps it will come to me in time. All the best, sir.

God would not deny any living creatures he created. So no o have always felt there no are animals on heaven. I don’t remember where I saw this but it was a reply from a small child, the explanation of why dogs don’t live as long because dogs are good and they know kindness and they like everyone and since they already know this their lives are much shorter than we as humans have so much learning to do to know that same characteristics and virtues. Praise God to all

So, what about dogs who have not been loved by someone? Do they not go to heaven? I believe all God's creatures go straight to Heaven when the die. God created them, he loves them. Why wouldn't they be in heaven?

I know a Swedish singer who would have liked to hear your answer. I think he already knows the answer if he got to the right place, by now ...ah, no, who'd have thunk, he's 75, but still alive! kzbin.info/www/bejne/gXOToGl9Z9tmiJo Or perhaps I should have spoken about Scanian singer, rather than a Swedish one ...

Dear Father Dave, I look forward to seeing all the dogs who were in my life again in heaven. I also rescued Bearded Collies in honor of my Beardie, Stephanie who was with us for 13 years. A few years after Stephanie went over the Rainbow bridge, my daughter and I volunteered at a Dog Shelter so she could earn a Girl Scout Badge. The day before our last volunteer day, Jesus showed me a new dog that was brought in. The moment I saw her brought in, I told myself, she is mine! She came home with us and stayed with us for 18 years. We are waiting for Jesus to bring another dog into our lives. On another note, my daughter liked the part when you smelled your arm pit - she imitated you and laughed!

Dog's and cat's: Dogs were shepherding with thier shepherd's for generations... Dog's are like following Jesus as a Catholic in the pure way.... Cat's are independent... Cat's are like protestants . they believe in Jesus in most things but are independent of Jesus. They follow thier beliefs more... Lukewarm .... God bless you father. 🙏 ✝ 🙏 🌹
