I just loved seeing those pictures, artwork and memoirs. So lets pull out all the baby pics, of everybody, Maverick too. I kept all my son's artwork and I'm so glad I did because now that he's gone, I have some of it framed. Seeing it brings back wonderful memories of his childhood. That said...don't throw anything like that away. Hugs

I was so surprised when my psychiatrist told me the average weight gain on serroqual was 15 lbs. This totally made sense because I was always hungry and gained a lot of weight on it! I was given it to help me sleep but got off of it because it was making me slur and make odd facial movements. I will say getting off of it was horrible. I basically cried for 6 weeks straight even though the Dr tapered me off of it. I’m so happy to see Abby thriving off of it.❤️

Good news is always exciting!! It must be heartwarming for you both Asa and Priscilla to see such good results. Maybe the new meds work better with her puberty and growing body. Meds are always trial and error and what works for one person may not always work for another. I have experienced this many times and yes it can be super frustrating until you get the right ones. And of course being non verbal just adds difficulty. My best wishes for you all. Big hugs!
@purplesneakers33436 жыл бұрын
I’m glad she’s not on that specific med anymore. I’m sure it has helped some people but in my life it has caused more problems to midnight fridge raids while still asleep and choking while sleep eating, waking up in such a fog a friend realized she was driving the kids to school they were close enough to walk but sure enough she’d been driving them and not remember get Home go back to sleep wake up couple hours later and end up angry with the kids for trashing the house when it was her raiding cabinets. I’ve had first hand experience and omg the hunger pains were insane they were trying it on everything from migraines to insomnia to anxiety it was the new drug of the time. I hope this helps Abbeys belly not always feel so hungry.

My 14yo son was also on Seroquil and was recently weaned off the maximum dose. The weight gain was offset by a growth spurt but was nowhere near the weight he gained on Risperdal. Yay puberty. We switched to Geodon and noticed an increase in his verbal skills as well but it didn’t help with his anxiety and mood swings so we’re moving on to Latuda. Hopefully this one helps but we’re also going to finally do a genetics test to get a clearer picture.
@Sam-dd7tn6 жыл бұрын
Neil K I wonder if they weaned her? I sure hope so, because it is hard just to wean off that med. It made me feel like I was going to have a seizures when I weaned. I can't explain it, but it was not fun at all! Also, I has trouble sleeping like Abbie is. Btw, that's awesome his verbal skills improved! I hope your son's change in meds goes well and he can get some relief from his anxiety and mood swings. ✌ 😊
@kwaktak6 жыл бұрын
Sam IIRC I remember them saying that they kept her on the lowest dosage possible because they didn’t want to sedate excessively. Also, I believe she had had sleep issues before changing medication. That has been an ongoing issue with my son as well.

One of my high school teachers got fed up with a couple boys in particular who wouldn't stop talking and eventually through an eraser at one of them. It was so funny. Many parents would freak out over that, but his parents found it hilarious too. Everyone was laughing besides him. His face had chalk all over it.
@megan8076 жыл бұрын
I always had "talks too much" in the comments section on my report cards and I always had straight A's. My parents always said if that's the most criticism I receive, then I'm doing fine. They did always tell me to work on it, but we all know how that goes. I even used to get the eye from my professors in college and one even called me out in a huge class and told me to go ahead and finish and then she would continue. I was talking to my childhood best friend and it was beyond embarrassing. We still laugh about it. We both graduated nursing school wth honors, so I think we made it out just fine. ;) Isaiah has an awesome personality and has the brains to go with it. Talk away buddy!!

Have you heard of Gene Sight? Its genetic testing to tell what meds will help and what will hurt. I never had it done but have gone thru 10 years of med changes till thorazine and others. So glad Abbie is doing well on geodon!
@darkbluematter17536 жыл бұрын
Xev Setter I had that done. It was really interesting and informative. And the info you get on your liver enzyme phenotypes applies to all kinds of meds and other chemicals like caffeine, so I finally learned why certain stomach and allergy meds and painkillers make me feel so crappy. Also, why I can drink coffee and still go to sleep in an hour. Overall, I highly recommend getting the test.

Hi I'm really glad to hear that the new medication is making a difference for Abbie. I've had to take psych meds at different times in my life and I can tell you that some of them are very very difficult to live with in your system with the side effects and everything, and others can do miracles it's just a strange thing. With Abbie not being able to talk then that leaves it up to you guys to watch and see how the changes are which must be much more difficult. But I'm so excited that she's on a new Med. Asa I looked at your shop and I got overwhelmed completely overwhelmed. Good luck with everything try not to stress out. Thanks for the video see you next time

I have bipolar disorder and am on seroquel. I always had what I called seroquel munchies after I took it, just a hugeeeeee appetite that couldn’t be filled until I felt sick. Really hope it’s the case with Abby and she won’t have to go through that anymore x

@la04246 жыл бұрын
I took Seroquel due to severe anxiety/depression/sleeplessness. It was one of the worst meds ever! It made me feel foggy, and just awful. I couldn’t pinpoint one specific thing that bothered me; it was just this overall feeling of malaise. It was horrific! I was at my mother’s house one day and my brother walked in and said, “You look like sh*t”!!! I said, “ you have no idea how bad I feel”! 😕
@rainbowdrops68696 жыл бұрын
Told ya already in the video with the big news (live chat) that I’m so relieved that Abbie doesn’t have to take Seroquel anymore,it’s hell. You’re in fog half of the day and it’s so challenging to take really part in life. I just have to say that again. I feel happy for Abbie that she’s not upin a fog-mode with constant appetite, I know people who take that neuroleptic and they were not skinny. You saw that they ate much. But they can’t help, it’s really because of that dumb seroquel.I’ve tested so much medications for sleeping issues and also for “depressive “ episodes plus anxiety. If u need personal experience, I would be happy to help. I’ll write you on Facebook how you can contact me. And I must say: I’m not the whole world, i just can tell about MY EXPERIENCE and maybe what I’ve seen on other people who took the medicine. I know every body reacts different. ☺️ if I could help you I’d be more than happy.

@lifeonlowbatteries81536 жыл бұрын
The pic of blond Isaiah looks like a mini Asa. Also, I have caught myself using Abbie's "hi" sign here at home. Edit: Oh yeah I also wanted to comment on the seroquel. What you're describing in Abbie's case sounds a lot like what I went through when I started to come off of it. I've been tapering off for many months (for a lot of reasons) and just recently am down to 25mg eod. I may have mentioned this before but my appetite is way less ravenous lately and over the course of the months that I have been tapering off my meds I've lost the 20 lbs I gained when I started it. All in all I'm feeling much better and am excited to be completely off of it!
