Heya Ken!!! I love using the Piccolo!! I have that same set that you have, and the open comb plate is my normal choice for removing the goatee when I decide to grow it out, and it does it effortlessly, with just about any blade. The safety bar plate is a great daily shaver, but I personally like the open comb more. Have a great day and stay safe!!!!

Open Combs are amazing when used on long hair. If I haven't shaved legs in a while, first shave will always be a comb.

Good point / info I shave my head, but generally once a week. I use my slant because it does better on the stubble; however, from this, I may pick up an open comb

Hi Ken. A very interesting comparison. I thought there would be a much more significant difference between open and closed comb Since Fatip is known as being aggressive in general, therefore it makes no big difference, I guess. Thanks for this video. Regards, Patrick

I have almost the same brush, without the green fill for the letters, but it’s the boar and badger blend with the butterscotch handle; It’s quickly become my go to. Those special edition razors do look rather nice, I haven’t tried too many open combs; mostly vintage Gillette’s and those PAA slants.

Nice shave Ken that cream is supposed to be good. I just received the exact razor with the open and closed plates. After a couple of uses and I spoke to guy I traded with who shaved with it maybe 10 times the top of head cap started peeling. I have been looking around for a replacement head but have not found one. I even emailed Fatip to let them know my demise asking if I could buy a replacement head with no reply yet. It is one of the most smoothest razors I have tried and I like both open and closed plates

I bought a Special Edition version and had quality issues with it. During the first shave, there was a coating that was peeling off of the top cap and handle. It's too bad because it seems to give you a great shave Ken.

Hey Ken, are you aware that Ebay sell a range of Arabian fragrances for men. They are made with Oud Resin and other ancient ingredients to equally ancient recipes. This may be our last chance to try Oud as it's been banned due to allergy concerns, as it's the base for Aramis, Tabac, Brut, plus numerous others. That must be causing concern in the fragrance industry. Other vital ingredients, such as Oak Moss and cloves, are also a no no. Anyway, thought you might like to know.

You sounded marginally surprised that the OPEN COMB does a better job than the CLOSED COMB. So, with your ocean of experience with hundreds of razor heads, should I not automatically assume that open comb shaves are closer than an equivalent closed comb?

Parker's Open Comb razors are milder that their Close Comb razors, so exceptions are there. In most cases our assumptions that Open Comb will give closer shave than the Close Comb razor are true, but not in all cases.

Nice shave. I also have the "piccolo special" in my den and like both baseplates. After 3 days.... you know, that long weekend with the best buddies out camping, telling the old stories all night long and washing down those grilled ribbs and saussages with that deadlie mixture of Pilsener and moonshine.... Home again, the open comb will take it all down. Well....sorry, the "fish and chips guys" lost de Eurocup and the "pizza and chianti guys" have delivered after 90+30 because England just messed up the penalties....as always. The three lions are still waiting for their first title after 1966..... Obviously it's because they drink their beer in room temperature and drive on the wrong side of the road....Just kidding.... The real reason was the amount of pressure on the 19 years old player, who just couldn't score. (And the of course the vinegar, they spill on their chips/fries)😜
