I'm just after grating two Palmolive shave sticks into my shaving bowl for tomorrows shave, a bit of a chore, but this soap is simply one of the best money can buy in terms of performance and value. I don't bother sending away for some of the more fancy and expensive soaps or creams any more as I find some of the products on the store shelf's here in the UK just as good for less money. Palmolive stick / cream, Ingrams, Erasmic cream or bowl, Supermax cream, Nivea Men cream or Body Shop macca root. I've used all these at some point and found them very good.

Though I've got what you mentioned. TOBS and D.R Harris, nothing like the classic Palmolive Shaving Stick. Though I wish I could buy it for the price you'd pay, here in Canada it's 4.25$ and only available online. Now I'm thinking I should use it for Sunday's shave. It's good to see ya thrilled to bits. Yea me too. Pasteurs pharmacy in NYC sells the Palmolive sticks for $15. I bought the exact same one on eBay for less than $4 shipped to my front door from the UK. I'll pay $4 all day for this soap, it's still a great value at that but price but $15?$! Come on!!

Paul, have you tried any of the Mickey Lee Soapworks soaps? I highly recommend their Drunken Goat. A unique soap containing goats milk and Guinness! Has an almond like scent.

You could bring a friend in for an interview and no matter what product he brings up, your character would feel it's not good or expensive enough. You would sit there in a velour robe, with a snifter of brandy next to a bottle of Chivas Regal with a monocle in your right eye spouting off on issues of shaving such as, "Aqua Velva? How dare you? Paul, I noticed something when using the Palmolive shaving stick. After a few passes a white deposit (soap, salts?) is formed on my razor. The smooth metal of the razor gets very rough and shaving isn't as comfortable anymore. Have you experienced this? Is this linked to hard water? Do you know a remedy?

+Tom Messiaen Hi Tom, not noticed it with mine, maybe an odd batch you have or something, could be a hard water thing too yes...but it should not do that to the razor really....try using bottled water and see if that stops it, you will know then it is infact your tap water. use a kettle to warm it up. Enjoyed the video as usual and really need to get a hand on a palmolive classic stick which was my first soap back in the late '70s 'cause that used to be what my 'peasant' Dad used! :-) I love the Fatip Picolo head, even better than my R41. It's just as aggressive but find the blade angle of the Fatip more comfortable. Although I like the picolo's handle weight and balance I hated it because the vertical lines made it slippery when wet, specially on the upstrokes with the head weighing down. So I knurled it with vertical lines and now it has a fantastic grip and is definitely one of my big OC favourites. See a pic here flic.kr/p/E9JBA5

why do people like such aggressive razors if you have to be that careful to shave I like to be comfortable when I'm shaving if I have to constantly pay attention to the razor I'm not enjoying my shave

+Greg Wagner It's personal preference really, some people use only agressive razors, as others use only mild, or like me, like to use all manor of razors with all manor of aggression. Thanks for the comment Greg.
