I've used lace as a binding for small projects for over 30yrs. I use a different technique so that scallops or other edge details are seen on both sides. If you've never tried using lace, I recommend it, as it's a lovely touch to a project.

I love the idea of using lace as a binding, but my question is what about the batting on the edges, does it not eventually poke through the lace on the edges?
@melbapesante47374 жыл бұрын
I would serge my quilt first when using lace for binding.

Neat. I was expecting the lace to be peeking out along with traditional binding, like adding rick rack.

When you are binding with lace, why are you stitching and folding over instead of just putting the lace to where you get scallops on both sides when you stitch?
@SmittenKitten.7 жыл бұрын
I was wondering this, too.

It seemed to me that the back was more attractive because it didn't have the "flap" from where the lace was started, otherwise- I love this binding material

I would be concerned with bearding through the lace after a wash or two.
@muffemod4 жыл бұрын
You can add a binding over the lace binding to prevent that.

That's beautiful!! Do the scallops hold their shape after being washed several times? Where do you buy the crocheted binding?

Hi Julie, we have not tested washing the lace yet, but based on the samples we have seen that have traveled a lot, they are sturdy. We have them available in 1-color 11 yard rolls, and multicolor 1-yard packs. www.fatquartershop.com/lecien-fabric/la-conner-jera-brandvig-lecien-fabric
