I enjoy seeing your process Kimberly. Do you have a series/playlist on reading through patterns and deciding how to plan? I am making a full quilt of Lori's scrappy strawberries and learning that I could have planned this way differently - like using triangles on a roll instead of cutting all the teeny tiny squares!

I do wish I had the stamina that Kimberly does. I can't stand & cut like that. But I did do the Triangles on a Roll this way. I cut all the blocks, made all the half square triangle at once and used design boards to place the blocks on. Worked well & certainly saved me time in completing the quilt.

Oh Kimberly my right shoulder hurt watching you. Due to an accident 5 yrs ago, cutting hurts so badly. I cut out a block a day max and sew it. Oh to be as efficient as you. I have a few accuquilt dies, but they are rarely the size I need. I recently spent a day squaring 160 HST's and it about did me in. Take care of that arm and appreciate how much it does for you. You're a joy to watch.

Yes, it’s the standing that wears me out in the studio. But I find it hard to cut accurately sitting down and it’s difficult to press large fabric pieces sitting down. But I do keep a little Clover iron for seams next to my machine. That helps.

I've done the cut marathon and it helped with quilts that have multiple style blocks and when the blocks are the same but maybe a lot of different fabrics. I prefer cutting block by block so I don't get mixed up but having boards seems to prevent that. I may need to go ahead and buy some or make some. I am still not quite comfortable in my quilt skills so I am working to find MY tasking methods. I have adopted your starching and storage method. Thank you to you and FQS family.

Amazing to watch over your shoulder! You are a cutting machine! Wow! I love the Shoerline fabrics you are working with and just bought some this week! I get bored easily so I have to cut a little, sew a little, trim a little, press a little.... repeat! it's not as efficient, but that is apparently how I need to do it to keep my attention span.

You obviously did a lot of prep work before cutting. I would love to see how you chose the fabrics for each block and determined when you would use foundation paper and/or over sizing pieces to make the blocks. I’m teaching myself to use EQ8 to draw the blocks ahead of time but still feel like I’m missing part of the process! Thanks for all the time and effort you put in to teaching. I am a better quilter because of it.

I always put my “kit” together for a quilt. I try to add each block to EQ8 to color sampler quilts. Then I cut the entire quilt blocks and place each one in baggies and store in a marked decorative box. I use the design boards for blocks I’m working on. If I even walk pass my sewing room I usually stop and sew a block or two 😂 I counted my “quilts” I’ve “kitted” and it was 26…. I’m starting to think this must be my favorite part of quilting 😳 OR just too many fabulous fabric and patterns coming out 🤷🏻♀️

I use foam cord boards bought oversized in a box of 12. I cut to size with a tool meant just for foam core boards. Wrap in cotton batting, secure with painters tape. They’re not as pretty as Kimberly and Lori’s but they are quick and easy! I made two just yesterday. I might make two more today. They are indeed very helpful. Seeing Kimberly’s video just now showed me just how much they’re helpful! I need about 20 more 😂
