How would you compare them to the eachine ev800d's? That's what I've got now and I'm sick of how far away from my face they extend, it makes them bounce up and down with any movement.
@5zero7RC5 жыл бұрын
@@DebrodeD I have never tried ev800d's but I believe they are similar in size to the goggles I do have. And yes, the main reason I wanted to upgrade is because my current goggles are so large. When trying to fly from the passenger seat in a car my old ones do bounce around a bit. I have not tried doing that with the Scouts yet but I assume they would be much better since they are so much smaller.

***UPDATE*** After using the goggles a bit more, I found another annoyance. The auto shutoff feature is cool and all, but I guess I hold my head too still while using them and they start to beep, warning me they are about to shut off. After about 2 1/2 minutes of flight they start to beep. They have not shut off on me yet and this feature can be disabled, but I think I just figured out what the mystery beep was.

Great test! Funny that the Scout and HD2 both feature 50 degree field of view and both have blurring/doubling/out ofnfocus they are. I wonder if it's just inherently difficult to push past 50 degrees without special lensing.
@5zero7RC5 жыл бұрын
My other goggles have a 48 degree field of view so I don't think it is impossible. It appears as though the issue is my eyes can't get close enough to the lens to see the whole screen. The top and bottom of the lens has a slight bevel around the edge which distorts the picture when you look through it. If that lens were even a tiny bit taller, I think these goggles would work much better for me.
@mougnette5 жыл бұрын
You should try to fly them keeping your glasses on your face, that's possible by removing the 2 rounded foams on the sides. You can also try to remove the lenses, that worked for some people with the recon's. I'm also pretty sure Fatshark will release some different set of lenses for it in the future. Also, goggles are like shoes, everyone has different feeling and requirements and when switch to a new pair it require some time to get used to. Wish you to find a way to get them tuned to your feelings, they really look great and do have nice features.
@5zero7RC5 жыл бұрын
I agree, the features are great and I love the small size. I have tried to wear my glasses. They fit just fine within the goggles and I don't even need to remove the foam bits. However I am nearsighted and the glasses don't help at all when looking in the goggles. The real issue is that in order to see the top or bottom fraction of the screen, I have to look through the slightly beveled part of the lens which distorts the image, making it look blurry. If the lens area were just a tiny bit taller, I think it would work for me.
@mougnette5 жыл бұрын
@@5zero7RC If you are nearsighted then you really should try them without the lenses... that will reduce FOV a bit but I wouldn't be surprised that could solve your issue regarding the bottom part of the screen.

@@mougnette Any advice for opening them up to remove the lens without damaging anything?
@mougnette5 жыл бұрын
@@5zero7RC I guess it's the same as the recon. You have to place your thumb under the lens where the notch for the nose is and pop it out.. it may require a bit of well controlled strength to do so and using a lens cloth is certainly a good idea.

I have not personally tried the ev800d goggles. I hear lots of good things though. Probably worth a shot. I really wanted something smaller than the box googles I have and the Scouts looked great. They are much smaller than what I had and are only a little bit bigger than something like the HDO's. Unfortunately FatShark does not make a goggle that fits my face. :(

@@5zero7RCI have both the EV800s. They had too much magnification for me so I took the lens out of the removable piece and installed it on the main piece. I wish I had watched your review before buying these. I just took mine on a maiden voyage with a tinyhawk S today.... and I can see so much out the bottom of the goggles, and definitely can see the ghosting too. I expected to see SOME out of the bottom, but I can pretty much walk around as normal looking out the bottom. I'm not getting much range out of mine either. I can't believe these are 200$ when the Oculus Go VR headset is the same price and WAY more comfortable. I know they're different but I expected to put on a lighter set of Oculus Go's rather than a cheap feeling goggle that really doesn't feel like it fits my face right.

I have a Quanum RC540R diversity receiver attached to an old magnetic CB radio mount. I use the A/V out from the receiver and connect it to my goggles. You should be able to do something similar with newer hardware.

That blurring is when your eyes is out of focus with the lens, I see that in any box goggles I use unless I use my glasses and sad to say thats hard to come by a pair of box goggles where you can use your glasses with, My DJI Goggles are perfect focus as long as I use my glasses, I will still try these sharks cause I will be trying them with my glasses that were made just for FPV goggles, nowhere yet have I seen anyone try these scouts yet with using glasses and until they do, dont expect a true review of what these goggles can really do cause thats a feature NO one has tested yet. Hey you still may get the double image, but until someone tries these with glasses, any review is mute for me about any blurring until they do.
@5zero7RC5 жыл бұрын
I did test out using my glasses with the Scouts. The glasses fit just fine but since I am nearsighted, they don't make any difference in how clear the screen is. To get the same view I see, hold the Scouts up to your face and slowly pull them away. When they get to the point where the edges of the lens get in the way of the image of the screen, that is where my eyes sit and that is what I see when trying to use these. If it were possible for me to get my eyeballs closer to the lens, they would work great, but my face just isn't shaped that way :)

Hey bro, I just watched your video and wanted to suggest a good goggle alternative. My first googles were eachine VRD2s. I wear glasses so I was unable to focus on the screen even after modding it. I decided to go all-in on some HDOs. While waiting on my order to arrive someone local put some Fxt Vipers for sale at a price to good to pass up. These things are awesome! Great screen and I can wear my reading glasses. If you're looking for a great box goggle, I can highly recommend the Fxt Vipers. If I had them before I bought the Fatsharks, I probably would not have bought the HDOs. I think they're one of the best goggle values on the market. The only negative is they're larger than Fatsharks. Full disclosure, my daily drivers are HDOs with diopter lenses due to their size.

The range is fine. Not the best or the worst. Actual range varies a lot depending on where you are, trees, the weather, other RF interference, and more. You can swap the omni antenna on the top for better ones if you want, but you can't really change the built in patch antenna.

I'd turn off the OSD, and add some stick on foamy strips and cut and trim them to fit your face and stick them over the places where light is being let in. Both of those are kind of a given. :-/ Maybe those two suggestions will help you. Can you chose between the 3 different modes that Diversity stitches the two antenna inputs together, because one seems much better than the other two and default mode 0/1. The double vision might be from cataracts?
