@@stevec3872 excellent! Again congrats and God bless!! I myself was diagnosed about 11 months now I was on keto diet (so I thought) ever since and I thought that on my second blood tests I would have lowered it by now.. man was I wrong. So my alt prior was from 64 to 79 to now was 90 my ast is 56. I have to say that when I said I was on keto for the most part I guess I didn’t do it 💯 percent. I mean i would still have my occasional macchiatos and sodas and cakes but that was on occasions the most I did honestly was soda maybe 2-3 cans a week, is that a lot? I don’t know. But seeing how serious this can get I’ve started three days ago to cut off sugars and carbs once and for all and do the keto the right way..hoping that on my next blood test it gets better.🙏🏽.. btw can you share me your daily keto intake meats fishes poultry etc. and how long was the duration of your fasting..thank you & God Bless!!.. As a survivor of End Stage Liver Disease I can say that you are totally correct with these 7 Steps. I can only really add the taking of a special snack during the fasting stage of the day. Adding a drink of ACV (apple cider vinegar), turmeric and cyan pepper with a teaspoon of honey and lemon juice. The doctors at the time told me I'd never last til a donor liver became available but I proved them wrong.

My 11 year old daughter reversed her fatty liver disease with keto! She came to us through foster care after her bio mom had some drug issues and delivered her two months early at 3lbs 15 oz. She was 2 months old and 6 lbs when she was placed in my arms. By 5 months on premature baby formula she jumped to lots of rolls and to the 95th percentile in weight. As an LPN, I asked the doctor if we should switch formula or test thyroid with these changes? They tested thyroid and it was normal. Her weight continued to climb through the years even with “good” nutrition and lots of exercise. We were very careful with added sugars and any processed foods. I continued to bring the concerns to doctors because as a nurse I had seen the devastating effects of diabetes etc and it seemed like we were going in that direction already! I wanted to be careful about my concerns because of eating disorders…I wanted her to have a healthy relationship with food. I tried to talk to doctors without her being there to discuss my concerns. They kept telling me not to worry about it and just eliminate processed foods. At 9 years old, she developed a “Buffalo hump” and it was embarrassing for her. She cried and always wanted to wear her hair down to cover it. I requested an appointment with an endocrinologist (although the family doctor saw no need). I thought she must be pre-diabetic or have some kind of metabolic syndrome that needed to be addressed. The endocrinologist did no tests and said she was fine and that people “distribute fat differently”. At 10 years old she needed blood work for a different issue and the labs and ultrasound confirmed fatty liver disease. We were referred to a hepatologist who said “stop giving her processed foods. She needs to lose weight”. She wanted to refer her to a weight clinic where they would encourage exercising/counseling and “good nutrition”. I knew this wouldn’t work and it was no fault of her own…something was wrong! I researched the formula she had as a baby and saw the first ingredient was corn syrup. She had a tough start to life and I wondered if it could all be related. I researched “insulin resistance” and started researching keto. I still don’t really know why this happened to her and not others but i knew something needed to change. I told the liver doctor I would like to try keto before a weight clinic and she agreed (hesitantly) that I could try it with lab work in a couple months. ALL labs back to normal in 2 months AND even better in 6 months. No more Buffalo hump, she lost 20 lbs…and is enjoying and eating more food than she ever did! I’m so thankful! The whole family is keto, and many of our health issues have improved or been eliminated(psoriasis, headaches, snoring). When I returned to the doctor knowing these results were directly related to keto/low carb they gave it no credit. Nothing worked and this did! It changed her life! I’m so thankful to this channel and others that continue to research and learn! Thank you!

The medical profession is WILLFULLY IGNORANT. It's disgusting. Doctors aren't DOCTORS anymore, they just follow along with the flow to avoid ostracization and lawsuits and never question or do their own research. Pathetic.

Your body is still healing and I’m sure you will be pleasantly surprised by your next blood work results. My husband had MAFLD and excess weight was increasing, hunger insatiable, triglycerides were 3x high normal level. Found keto and told him we had to be all in not halfway. It was tough but in a week the changes started for both of us. In 12 weeks his TG were way down, and later they went into low normal zone. We love keto or LCHF. We cycle protein days, we do time restricted fasting. Haven’t felt better. We are in late 50’s.

He kept asking me, like he thought I was lying, every time I told him no. Well, he said I needed a liver biopsy, to see what the problem was. I walked out of that office and did my own research. I started a low carb/keto diet, and in just a few months, my tests showed NO MORE fatty liver!! I'm going to bring up trying this diet and such and see if we can't slow this down, maybe even help him live a few more years with me. Breakfast normally consists of a two egg omelette with melted cheese and bacon, or my own keto muffins, instead of the omelette. @@MarkSmith-js2pu I have both half and half and heavy whipping cream. I like the HWC better but need to remember not to pour as much in as the days I use half and half. I put around 4 tbsp of half and half in the first 10 oz cup of coffee...and then when its near the bottom I top it off with the 2nd cup. Just the coffee on the 2nd cup. I also drink a 20 oz glass of water with 1 oz apple cider vinegar, 1/2 oz MCT oil, and squeeze 1/3 of a lemon in it. The coffee and that water drink gets me to around 2pm for an 18/6 intermittent fast each day. Its my first month doing it and I've dropped from 280 to 271 in 3 weeks. Not really doing keto yet, just eliminating carbs and eating good fat but next month I'm gonna buy the keto test strips, go to a 20/4 IF and start walking each day. Its definitely getting easier. Im still not sure how to count the fat/protein/carbs like they say....the 75/20/5 but I know that if I'm limiting my carbs to 20 or 30 each day, eating good fats like avocado, salmon, olive oil...etc with the IF even if I'm not in keto I have to lose weight Thanks for the response GOD bless

I've had elevated liver enzymes for the past few years. I was finally diagnosed with NAFLD. I was told to lose weight and focus on smaller portions. It wasn't until I ate a low-carb/keto diet that my ALT liver enzymes returned to normal levels. Only 3-4 weeks on the diet and everything fell way within healthy ranges.

Get it together people! I've had liver disease for at least 16 years (autoimmune hepatitis & fatty). I'm what you call skinny fat! @@christopherralphbianco4623 Thanks for the info. Given the biopsy in 2007 I'm guessing the LFT elevations were non-trivial. In my experience doctors tend to ignore minor elevations. I had two different docs see my slightly elevated ALT and tell me, "you probably have a little bit of fat in your liver -- nothing to worry about". I got low-carb religion in 2018 and subsequently got ALT and AST back into the lower end of the normal range, but I'm sure I did some damage during the prior 5 to 10 years when I was still fully trusting doctors to interpret my blood work. PS: Best of luck keeping that scarring at bay!

When i was a kid, and i was visitong my family behind the iron curtain, i was always surprised how they lived. No pops at all. On very hot days they made some cucumber - mint- lemon mixture which was the most refreshing drink ever. Only fresh vegetables from the garden. The chicken which we ate on sunday, was still running on her legs on saturday. The chickens were living in the garden running everywhere. There was no sugar, whatsoever. My auntie always complained that they cant buy sugar in the shop. The butter was yellow, and it tasted so different than at home in canada. Tea was mint, nettle, sage and chamomile straight from the herb garden - it seemed to me that in hungary everyone had one. There was no snack whatsoever. They didnt even had a word for it. It was a big breakfast, bug lunch, very small dinner - and after dinner (5 pm-ish) kids were playing football in the park or biking like crazy up and down the hills. When the hungarian family came to canada and we went to the supermarket, they were in shock. They said half of the shop is something that they would never buy. Back in the 80-ies we thought we were a modern developed canada. We didnt know that we poisoned a whole generation. I tell my kids to go back to this diet, and keto seems to be the perfect one for that purpose.

Good to read about. Made me think if my childhood. Even though my grandmother owned a grocery store a soda pop or candy bar was a very rare treat. We ate real food - stew, meat chops, roast chicken, and always with fresh vegetables. Cakes and pies were for birthdays or holidays. This was in the 40's & 50's. When I first married I went grocery shopping with a friend. She bought lots of cake and pie ingredients but said they couldn't afford vegetables. That was my first clue that not everyone ate as we did.

Thank you for this video. My problem here is there seems to be no consensus in the medical community about nutrition and fatty liver disease and it’s very frustrating. You’re saying high, fat, low carbohydrate, where I seen a majority of opinion that leans towards the Mediterranean diet, which has plenty of carbs in it, and supposedly direct evidence of benefit to find liver disease. And most people with fatty liver disease also have lipid abnormalities, which seems contraindicated for a fatty diet. It’s like I don’t know who to listen to, and again there is no consensus out there.

May I suggest, that you make sure you have enough stomach acid(have some ACV in warm water before meals) & that your gallbladder is producing enough enzymes(get some bie salts if not) before going full carnivore(learned hard way).

To address being hungry, I started telling myself, "You ate ,and you ate good healthy food, you do not need more to eat ,you are not " truly " hungry". Because insulin resistance lies to you,it tells you that you are hungry when you're not. The mantra helps ,but I don't say it as much now because the IR is diminished.

Thank you DR.DBerry. At the moment, I am classed as working in progress. I have been on a keto diet for around 7 weeks and have lost 26lb. I feel much better but only yesterday I checked my blood pressure which read 164 over 99 so not too good. I spent a few years sitting in front of a computer in a very stressful environment which didn't help. I will continue on the keto diet as I love the many different recipes which will help me stay on course. Dr. your videos are a godsend. Thank you!

Thanks Doc. I survived pancreas cancer and thyroid cancer, stomach cancer kidney cancer….but in doing so I had to change my diet. It works here I am ALIVE. Now my pancreas left is 37% so my Liver works hard to keep me going. I’m a mild boarder line diabetic but I’ve managed to change that in two weeks by using the keto carnivore way to eat. I did find that my eating avocados 134 raised my sugar too high, broccoli not too high 129 but I do fast from 6pm to 12-1pm daily I’m just not hungry. So it’s been now 15 days and I’m doing really well. I have blood tests to do in June and we shall see. Unfortunately I was given a Cortizone injection for I had broken my left foot which now I know has made my liver more toxic. it is taking me over five years to clean my liver up from all the cancer treatments and within one injection. It’s right back to where it was so I’m back on the keto carnivore and will continue. It’s been 15 days so far so good I shall keep you all posted. Thanks again, Doc.

I was diagnosed with Nonalcoholic fatty liver around 10 years ago. This is how I cured it: I was drinking 4-6 liters of soda every day so I stopped completely. I started exercising 2 hours per day and dropped 50 LBs. It took couple years but no more fatty liver. Now I eat everything I want and it hasn't returned even though I gained back most of the weight. I still exercise 2 hours per day and eat anything I want but limit soda to couple times a month.

I've noticed his diabetes has slowed down a lot with the onset of this, mainly because he's not hungry. I was diagnosed with Non Alcoholic Steato Hepatitis or NASH via a needle liver biopsy 19 years ago, and information on how to address was extremely limited. They had told me to try and lose weight, but do NOT fast as it had shown to accelerate the disease in some studies. It basically went on as it was for four more years when diabetes diagnosis slipped in. That is when I took it upon myself to go on what I called low glycemic eating. Liver functions cleared up in a year, lost about 75 pounds, A1c went from 7.2, my highest ever, to 4.8. It included quite a bit of fasting. And only walking as my joints wouldn't allow much else that first year. Cut out about all forms of carbs, I did not eat a lot of fats, or meat, but they were better forms than I had been eating before.

@@chaz6399 If you ever develop diabetes, and you have had immediate loved ones pass away from diabetes related illnesses rather fresh in your memory, like I had, you literally become afraid to eat for awhile. That is sort of what I did. I really did not eat a lot for the year following the diabetes diagnosis. Or it was just me, but I have heard others do the same. Far less than before anyways. I had learned at that point that if I ate anything that spark insulin output it was going to make things worse. Insulin being the main hormone that made a person overweight.
@chaz6399
@chaz6399 3 жыл бұрын
@@frankenz66 I get it and I'm sort of in the same boat with you. I was just hoping you had some new meal ideas. After dilly-dallying with low-carb for decades, I got low-carb religion in middle of 2018. Lost 30 lbs over the following 18 months. Felt better than I ever had in my life. BP and several of my blood markers improved. Then in March of 2020 I started backsliding, getting careless, eating more carbs, not measuring blood sugar, getting more and more sedentary, etc. Wound up gaining about 10 lbs over 9 months. It all finally caught up with me in January 2021. One day I woke up with severe (burning) peripheral neuropathy in my feet which migrated to hands and other parts of my body. I've managed to get the neuropathy under control on my own by going back to strict low-carb and intermittent fasting. It's not entirely gone but it's tolerable and now more of a nuisance than anything. My bigger concern is that in the same time frame I also developed a persistent dull ache in my back, on the right side where my liver is. I've been trying to convince myself that it's just a back ache, but there's a nagging voice telling me that it's something more and maybe my liver or kidney is inflamed. I really hope not and I sure as hell don't want a liver biopsy! Anyway... Finally going to see my doc tomorrow to try and get some peace of mind. I definitely should have gone sooner but I was hoping it would resolve on its own. This whole situation sucks when you have a doctor that just follows the guidelines rather than understanding things the way Dr. Berry does. I suspect my doc is going to see my current 21.8 BMI and recent FBG of 92 and say there's no way it's blood sugar related, even though I've been a skinny-fat prediabetic for decades, including based on blood work he has in his file from 15 years ago. He's also going to pull up my non-zero CAC scan I had done a year ago and tell me I need to be on statin. FML Not to make this into a novella, but just last week I opened up a spreadsheet and started listing out all the sugar and carb-loaded foods my mother fed me and allowed me to eat as a kid. I'm well aware that many kids take in loads of carbs, but I guarantee you I was in the 99th percentile. I never really got fat, but I quickly developed into a tired & sickly kid and that carried on into a dysfunctional and unhealthy adulthood. I've known for a while now that's where it all started, but it really didn't fully sink in until I made this list. I also realized my mother royally screwed up my father in the same way. My father and I simply did not have the genetics to burn large amounts of carbs, but my mother was a sugar burning machine so she fed us what worked for her. I really need to start a blog to put this whole story out there.

@@chaz6399 To start, the rare pain I had with inflammed fatty liver was under the rib cage on the front side. Occasionally I even had a strange electrical discharge shoot from the outside edge on my right great toe that would shoot straight up my leg to my liver area in a fraction of seconds. I later learned that the two are on the same meridian. They were communicating the distress I guess. Liver disease is relatively asymptomatic for a long while into it. It is why it is a killer for the non-drinker because you have no symptoms until you are late into it and may not survive the timescale it takes to wait for a donation. Second, I developed folate and b-12 absorption issues later. I take a script vitamin. I also take benfotamine for neuropathy issues that came with the malabsorption. I grew up here Iin the south US where wheat flour based foods were king for me growing up. That, combined with sugar and corn syrup based junk and sweetened cold cerals it is a wonder anyone around has a working pancreas left by my age ( middle 50's). My mom did her best with the knowledge she had. She fell for that low fat eating but never really pushed it too far on the family. She is 85 and still around and has recovered from a lot as well. I overcame a lot of health issues that I should write about too. I used more than just food to heal myself though. I had tons of issues. Am doing the best I can and better than some I know. My parents were very thin growing up. My Dad had heart issues even in those times. Having too high BP for the Korean Draft and told at that point he would not live to be too old with no like that. He passed at 59. Would have been 91 just yesterday. Brother passed at 49 seven years both sudden cardiac death. My CAC was 1930 almost three years ago before I started this low carb. Don't know how it is going, but am allergic to stations so I can't go that route. As for your recurring health issues I have found it is best to never say you are healed of a condition. I am learning it tends to make you complacent in the long run.
@chaz6399
@chaz6399 3 жыл бұрын
@@frankenz66 Wow, that's quite a story. 1930 is a huge CAC score. Getting that number must have been overwhelming to say the least, esp. given your family history. Sounds like you're rising to the challenge though. Is the script vitamin called metanx? I came across that in some of my research. From what I read the liver pain you had sounds more typical. I've tried poking and prodding myself all around my abdomen and I can't elicit any pain. I can't press anywhere on my back and make it worse either. I'm hoping that fact together with solid normal ALT, AST, Bilirubin, etc. will allow my doc to tell me liver is good. We will see. I hear you on the southern cooking. I grew up in Florida. Not sure if Florida is typical "south" but the cooking style in our family certainly was. Lots of battered and fried stuff. Lots of biscuits and cornbread. Lots of Crisco, and endless cakes, cookies, pies, etc. I mean my mom loved to bake and it was extremely rare for us to not have one or more sweet desserts around the house. Then there were the homeade jellys, jams, preserves, etc. Local honey, Fresh squeezed orange juice. Sprinkling sugar on grapefruit slices. Dipping strawberries in sugar. Eating sugary raisin bran for breakfast and adding two scoops of additional sugar on top of it. Stacks of pancakes swimming in syrup. I could go on and on and on... Looking back with what I know now it really makes me feel disgusted. I know my mom didn't know any better and my pediatrician was useless, despite the fact that I was so frequently sick, but I'm not as gracious as you. I'm still not over the anger, especially now that I see that she F'd up my father as well. My grandmother saw what was going on and on multiple occasions shook her finger at my mother and said "You're feeding that boy too much sugar". She knew. BTW: I appreciate your warning. I definitely got cocky about my new found good health. Big mistake and it won't happen again!

The first 2 days I lost 6 lbs… that I regained… and haven’t gained or lost weight at this point… I feel my belly got fully round again… where I felt like it was indented and getting less round and full… so I was afraid I’m doing something wrong… but I’m sticking with the carnivore because my muscles have gotten stronger and I’m able to walk and have more Endurance with my actives… watching this video now to see if I can do anything else. For my fatty liver… PS I ate liver 2 times this week.. thank u for everything u do… I need to ask how long I should eat carnivore? I’m ussally eating healthy keto… so it almost like eating carnivore… but I felt like I needed more meat… which now I’m convenient that I did need more meat… because now I’m not craving more meat… but I am eating meat…after all… also intermittent fasting for 18 hours… which is giving me 6 hour window to eat… this is why it kinda scares me that I’m not losing weight… but I’m getting healthier…stronger… any advise is welcome… a little scared being on a carnivore diet… not losing weight but having straigth and endurance….

As for IF, for 2 years I've been trying to start skipping breakfasts, but... Yeah, was successful for 2-3 months, but that made me suffer. As for dinners (evening meals) skipping them I feel a far stronger effect! it's the sensation of 'lightness' and 'ease' in the morning and vivid/genuine appetite. It is so: I wake up at 06:15 am, drink 2 cups of spring water then go to wok; first meal at 9:00am(usually 4-5 wall nuts and then chewing 3-4 tsp of flax seeds as I keep on working in the office), then lunch at 12:00 - scomber fish soup WITHOUT breads and at 03:00 p.m could be something like I had for my 1st meal or 2-3 boiled eggs with liquid yolks, that's it. That's 18/6 mode. This way I managed to loose 8 kilos in 2 month (originally 112 kg, now 104. Target is 80 kg).
