Right? 2 years ago I had no idea who Sam was, didn't listen to Get Dead, and then.... BOOM. Dude is now my favorite lead singer and writer and Codefendants is like my Daily meditation sounds. And I am lucky enough to call the guy my friend after first meeting him, having a beer and bullshitting about felonies and our California Prison system experiences. Super cool guy that just has this realness, this glorious damage that he wears in a way that creates warmth with people who know that road. He sings "I never had a smile that lit up every room that I came into" but that is wrong, the room actually does light up when that dude walks in.

Agreed, the whole crime wave music and art sub-scene is the best and most important part of our scene as a whole at this moment in mid-December 2024. That came not just from me, but Fat Mike as well. Jesse Sendejas has a favorite band, they are called Get Dead. Whitney Flynn has a favorite artist, his name is Ceschi. Fat Mike has a favorite artist on his labels who has vecome one of his best friends, his name is Sam King. I can keep going, you get it though. I personally think Sam and Ceschi and Jesse Sendejas are the Rat Pack of our generation. Sam>Sinatra, Ceschi>Dean, and Jesse>Sammy they should do a jazz punk band together called Sammy Davis Junior Jr. Really though i have said it before, the music they are making is the most important thing to land in the last 40 years and i believe will stand up next to Bob Dylan, Woody Guthrie and Bob Marley when the final tale is told.
