Watch out for expansion and contraction of the tongue and groove timber you fixed the isolator too. You can get ~5mm movement across two boards between wet and dry states (but maybe this is composite cladding - can't quite tell in the video). Why, Ethernet is a differential current signal. You have to have a lot of interference to have any corrupted packets.

In a residential setting its unlikely that it would cause noticeable interference but, better to keep it seperate.

@@florisvdk AC Cable carries a LOT of Amperage compared to Data Cable which creates a comparatively HUGE Electromagnetic Field which in turn creates a lot of unnecessary Noise/Voltage/Current in the Data Cable - bad for high-speed Data transfer (high Noise) and VERY bad for the Electronics sending/receiving that Data (high Voltage/Current). Every Electrical Code I'm familiar with requires a certain amount of separation between High Current Cables and Data Cables for just that reason... They also require a separation between High Voltage Cables and Low Voltage Cables to prevent excessive Currents being Induced in the Low Voltage Cables (under the wrong circumstances, a 120/240 Volt Cable can Induce 40+ Volt Currents in a Circuit designed for a Max. of 12 Volts...Not a good thing for 12 Volt equipment (such as most Smart Home Controls) to suddenly get 40+ Volts through them...

The regs require separation of band I and band II anyway, so it should be done regardless of whether it has an big impact on the data or not.

The vast majority of boards in the country have CPDs that exceed the value of the main switch. You have to apply diversity. And what about the value of the DNO's incoming fuse? Maybe they could have mixed up lighting and "power" circuits a bit more. I was taught that you should always test an RCD in isolation, IE switch off all MCB's and disconnect all N's before testing. It takes 70 watts for one minute to make 1 litre of water one degree hotter. That's just a physical property of water. Any kind of water heating device necessarily has to have a lot of energy going through it, precisely because it takes 4200J to make 1kg. of water 1°C hotter. If we are going to see more electric heating systems in use in years to come, there will have to be suitable requirements to ensure safety, balanced against the need not to create a closed shop / protection racket. The use of a torque setting screwdriver is nice. Forcing everyone to use a specific tool only one company (run by an MP's brother in law) makes but deeming any job done using that tool utterly beyond reproach, is not so nice .....
@Ragnar85044 жыл бұрын
I suspect with more electric heating you might either see American-sized tails or - more reasonable in my eyes - domestic three-phase like in much of central Europe. While some countries (like France) have gone from three-phase to single-phase, quite a few others are going quite the opposite way, phasing out single-phase supplies. I think in Austria there's but one DNO left that even offers single-phase supplies! Three-pole bus bars for regular RCDs and MCBs are off-the-shelf parts here so whether a DB is single or three-phase only depends on the components you put in. All enclosures are rated for 230/400 V by the manufacturer.
@bluerizlagirl4 жыл бұрын
@@Ragnar8504 Three-phase in the home is an interesting idea. Most residential streets in the UK are wired so one house gets the red phase, the next gets the yellow, the one after that gets the blue and so on. There must be a lot of people who won't be used to the concept of three-phase supplies. "Well, that one is live, and that one is live, so whatever either one or the other of them is connected to is also live, so it can't hurt to connect them together, can it? Live's live, isn't it, they must both be connected together somehow somewhere upstream ....." No doubt there will be a few interesting videos around here .....
