The heat scale is a little different here in Australia we call 36 degrees very warm, 38 degrees is hot, 40 degrees is very hot, 44 degrees is extremely hot, 46 degrees is fucking too hot. I’ve got thermal switches installed in my roof space that will shut off my LED down lights when the temperature gets too high in the roof to protected the lights from the heat.

TBF if I was the builder I would probably add 30% just to be safe etc etc. then as a builder your probably vat reg so thats another 20% suddenly £3200 for a non vat spark is suddenly £5k. personally if i was the builder I would want a good deal off the spark for delivering regular work. it probably what 2 days first fix, 2 days second fix plus a day for testing and snags, so 5 days say 350 per day. could be about £2k for this. would be intrested what other people would charge

@@electricery That statement still holds true, a tool bag is not a tool, if something does just a good a job as the top brand why pay more, same goes with mobile phones or anything really each to their own I suppose, I've had my phone for years and it still does the same job as a £1400 Android Duo or a £1000 iPhone 12 which is rumored to be out this year and guess what it doesn't really do much more than the previous models, I paid £200 for my phone 3 years ago still going strong.

A £50 bag will not last long compared to that £200 one plus the quality of the material and design makes them well worth the money. His point was his pliers did the job and paying any more wasn't worth it in this case.

The 20A rating on those Wagos is the JET rating - that would be Japan. Irrelevant to us. They are derated to 20A in MF applications, but that is absolutely fine for a single leg of a ring. Shoving Ideal connectors in a Wagobox, not an MF compliant assembly, and the Ideal connectors in their own box are derated to 16A!
@Daniells1982
@Daniells1982 4 жыл бұрын
And the 16A is because of the box they're enclosed in. Thought that was weird, why produce a connector with a current rating of 32A to then produce a box rated at 16 that limits their application considerably?

I won’t work with builders anymore they don’t care about sparks, looking at that job I’d want 5K firstly to make good existing then put new wiring throughout extension and a percentage of cost would be for been messed about by Bob the builder. Last week I first fixed a friends bathroom then the bathroom install entered and cut off my 10mm tails at the shower pull switch and fitted a plastic ceiling, he also cut my down lights out without asking what size holes I required . You can understand why I turn down no end of jobs.

Yeah they are expensive but they will last a very long time. I have been communicating with the head designer of Veto to produce a wheel system for existing tool bags that is a collapsible that would allow you to take existing toolbag straight from the van over doors and up stairs pulling it without carrying it a system that paramedics use for collapsible wheel beds. This means you could load the bag and making it easier to carry in and out. They are also building a new wheel bag hopefully coming soon. The point is you can charge for innovation and quality if it does better than anything else out there and will last a very long time. Having to constantly change bags can be costly but it also depends on how you look after it.

its true though most of my hand tools depending on the site are Horrible fright (Harbor freight) but a screwdriver is a screw driver if im up real high or over a large pit or water what wld i want to loose or break more a klein/knipex or a HF. i have the same thing with my auto tools yes i have snapons but mostly use craftsman and HF HF stuff i use and abuse and it still works for less than 1/2 the price why not?

OMG Tool queens I got a college to by Draper Expert (they make Knippex) and they were terrific. And we all know how kids treat tools. Mind I did spend £9 on a hacksaw blade, not used much but it is 15years old.

Osian Meilyr I really hope that cupboard was pre-existing and the customer insisted on keeping it when the boiler was installed, otherwise that is a shocking lack of coordination between trades and/or failure of project management...

Is £5k expensive, when a plumber can replace a boiler in a day and get £2k upwards for a days work or just over a day, when you could be on that extension a week or more. Electricians more often than not under sell themselves. We have a load of tools, testers, computers, software, NIC membership etc etc.

2 - 5k for a boiler swap up our end . Ridiculous
@acelectricalsecurity
@acelectricalsecurity 4 жыл бұрын
@@persona250 I didn't say that, I said upwards of £2k for a job that can be more or less done in a day, and you can get a decent boiler for about £750, so a plumber could be getting upwards of £1300 for a days labour or around that, that doesn't seem expensive, I know lads who get that regularly, and I am in North Wales not the most affluent of areas. So based on those figures is it expensive, probably not.

@@persona250 I didn't say £5k for a boiler swap, I was saying what plumbers can get on average, and it is anywhere from £2k up, my mate charges £2.5k for a boiler swap. People are free to charge what they want, but what's the point of being the cheapest, it serves no purpose only to screw it up for everyone else. Personally I have no interest in being the cheapest.

I’m totally gonna be the guy I always smile about in North American building videos, but it’s so weird to see the massive differences in construction to where you are and here, I don’t even know what most of these things are I’m looking at for the wiring, it’s totally different. And a concrete built house 😳99% of our houses are wood framed and even the stone or brick structures houses have wood framed walls inside 9/10 times

Apologises, but if I am missing something or I've misunderstood what you are trying to say... But you start the video by going on about the previous electrician quoting £5K and already doing some work. Then spend half the video showing the installation/previous wiring for the house that was in before the extension was built. This doesn't have anything to do with the previous sparky who quoted £5K? To me your video implies the previous sparky did this and did a very poor job. It doesn't even look like they had a sparky in to start work on the extension, the builders/owners probably moved/worked around all those old cables/outlets (tied them up out the way/left them hanging/etc).
