FAULTY ACTRON COMPRESSOR ⎟DIGITAL COPELAND SCROLL

In this video I replace a faulty Actron Compressor that has burnt out. I need to return to this job to add a burn out drier and address the root issues that caused the original compressor to burn out in the first place. This job is not finished yet. This is only part 1.
The Condenser Coil is heavily blocked and needs to be cleaned. Also I believe whilst doing such a big repair, you should remove the Accurator strainers which are commonly blocked up in my opinion.

Even an old factory Actron Tech couldn’t have done a better job. Haha. Nice work. There are strainers on both bullet piston sets (@ indoor & outdoor) liquid line. If it was a burnout, I would encourage you to pull both out and order a complete new set / assembly from Actron 😉. They come with gaskets.

I totally agree. 100%. This was the first time I ever stepped foot onto the job. The compressor is in but before I leave I want to change Strainers and clean the condenser coil (which is very blocked). Great minds think alike haha.

Why does the breaker trip when a compressor is shorted out?

Any short will result in less resistance and therefor allowing way more current to pass through and the breaker will trip on “over current” or if the circuit breaker is an RCD it will detect earth leakage and trip

Hi, Mitch. Can I use nitrogen to flush/clean a compressor burnt out system ? Instead of installing the filter drier and replace it later? Great vid as always!

Thanks mate. Unfortunately I don’t think nitrogen will work. I honestly feel the best way is to install a burnt out drier on the suction line and remove it later on.

Awesome man, I heard Florida is beautiful. Everyone over here calls it MAPP Gas. I’m not sure what is the actual gas makeup (I think there’s a few) but yeah just google MAPP gas. 👍🏻

The strainers that are after the accurators. When ever I do a compressor change I get rid of the strainers because I have seen many times before they block up and increase the head pressure on these systems.

I've has the same with actrol. It seems that they don't communicate well between metalflex and Reece hvac let alone other actrol branches.

Haha yeah I had the oxy set out for the suction pipe. The only reason I use the MAPP Gas for the smaller pipes is because I like the way the flame is. I only have a number 8 and 12 tip for my oxy and they throw the flame very acutely.
