I really advise against trying to leave the screws in the shell. A lot of the time the just end up with screws all falling out or popping out as you manipulate the cover. A better idea is to roughly draw the cover on a piece of paper or cardboard then poke the screws through the paper where they go on the actual part. Thus will keep them both secure and organized.

I love how solid the 2DS feels, despite it being the cheaper model in multiple ways. I guess I missed handhelds that were a single piece like the first GBA model or the PSP. The Switch is good with its single screen, but the Joycons still wobble around a bit. I think I'd enjoy a Switch mini but I play a lot docked so that's a no-go.

Another great video, Elliot! I love the 2DS; definitely one of my favorite consoles to repair, as it's such an easy system to work with! One trick going forward to keep in mind, is to try to remove the left of the two ribbon cables for the screen, and then boot up the system with it removed (you can just hold the battery in place for a quick test). I've had multiple instances with a busted screen where the system would pop and shut off as you've noticed with this one. I've had other instances with a busted screen, where the system would come on and stay on, but the screen would be blank. In BOTH types of cases, by removing that left ribbon cable and powering it on, the system actually booted! Of course, in both cases the screen was busted; but this did allow the system to boot, and after booting, you'd clearly be able to see the broken screen through the backlights of the display itself. It's not a huge deal; as you've pointed out, it's most likely the broken screen. But it's a quick, easy way to do a quick sanity check before removing the entire board and swapping out the screen!

A couple of hours ago I realized that I screwed up my 2DS XL. What happened was I think that when I accidentally dropped it in my garage it landed on the side with the screen and because I never checked it I didn't find out until I checked earlier today. The thing that sucks is I have Pokemon Bank and I don't remember my password to my account for that. It works just fine other than the screen. It just needs replaced.
@itsmesteve10813 жыл бұрын
Dang dude I hate it when you have to go through all this just to clean the buttons cause that's what I want to do. I don't need to replace a screen or anything at all, but it seems you have to unscrew quite literally everything and remove every piece of ribbon to clean out the buttons.
