Thank you for a great video. All my cables fail to light up the +5v power (pin 18). Is this a faulty cable, or just ones that doesn't support the +5v power?

this thing ONLY tests if all the wires connect. Not how much strength (resistance) of signal passes through. I would recommend a tester that does a bit more then this one

Hello can you help me identify what I'm needing to do with this unit...DC 9V Cable Tester Multimedia Interface Standard HD HDMI RJ45 Wire Line Finder..... the paperwork that comes with it is in broken English and cannot find any videos to highlight in more depth how to use it... I would have thought this would be a pretty easy thing to set up but obviously working off of the one that you're using in this video unfortunately does not work in the same way if you can assist would be greatly received. No, this is a continuity tester, it will only work on a wire only solution. The boosters effectively break the continuity of the wire to allow it to boost the signal.

Really old cables (before HDMI 1.3) didn't have all the pins wired, so this tester will spot a HDMI 1.0 (some LEDs don't light up) or a HDMI 1.4 cable (most/all LEDs light up). But it won't tell you yes/no to 4K support, and probably can't tell HDMI 2.0 from 2.0a or anything new like that.
