I picked up a safe that’s completely non-functional due to dead batteries. But that’s not going to stop me! Join me as I try to crack it open and discover what it takes to get inside. Will it be a simple fix, or is there more to this challenge than meets the eye?

Looks like the comment I left for this video went to next as well. Whoops. - The Safecracking/breaching looks like a very enjoyable addition to Locksport Enthusiast milieu. - very different set of parameters to address.

These cheap ones are pretty simple to get into. As for an opportunist burglar, I doubt they'd carry the tools to open one. I'd be interested in doing more in-depth stuff further down the line. Deviant Ollam seems quite good to follow for safe cracking, he's got a few good videos on it.

@Pik_lok Most criminals aren't quite sophisticated enough to pull of Hollywood style safecracking, it's predominantly crime fiction. As an element of this sport it may be enjoyable at a later date, I find quite literally everything fascinating & strange. Being 57 & having lived an extraordinary & eventful life. I can utilize my recreational time better than I formerly could. - I appreciate the conversation & Locksport Enthusiast fellowship. - cheers Pik-Lok!

@spontaneousdisintegration I kind of regret taking so long to get into locksport. It's really satisfying, and there are so many different areas to explore! One I keep meaning to get into is lever locks, and making some tools to open them. I'm pleased you really enjoy it too 👍 It's always entertaining, and the community is also great! #Locksport #Hobbies #Satisfaction

Not very super at all... Unless your battery has gone flat and you've lost the key.

Any thin piece of metal that fits in the key hole will probably get it open with enough jiggling up and down, or try the bang on top/flip handle method, or drop the knob end 5 or 6 inches and flip the handle or just add light tension to the handle while thumping or dropping. the handle probably turns clockwise. if it had power you could also hit the reset button from the mounting holes or the gap by the hinge side. have a great day

Cheers, I tried the old smash it on the top afterwards, but to no avail, unfortunately 😕

What happends next? Will you get a key cut or is there a way of replacing the batteries and resetting the code - I have the same safe with dead batteries but a different key - it's one of those circle pin tumbler lock type ones.
@Pik_lok
@Pik_lok 3 ай бұрын
The batteries have been replaced, and the safe now works. (I probably should have included this in the video). Although I don't really need a key, I have thought about replacing the lock so that it is fully functional. Maybe this could be a follow-up video. Is yours a tubular lock? On the inside on the door on mine, there was a panel that unscrewed. The batteries were in there.
@randyfish3763
@randyfish3763 3 ай бұрын
@@Pik_lok Yes, that could be an interesting follow up. Yes, mine is a tubular lock hidden under the same plastic cover and apart from that the safe door looks identical to yours inside and out.

Hey! Looks like 4 spools & a sort of serrated? I shall rewind & hit pause - - I really enjoy spool pins now, to such a degree almost don't bother with std pins ..almost ...but all locks are greatly enjoyable! - cheers Greyhound Oopsie ! Also Cheers Pik-Lok !

@Pik_lokpast couple weeks I practice Masterlock 532 & ACE44mm laminated daily(plus some std pins) just opened ABUS 74/40 LOTO yesterday, working on AL1100 (& parsing out the serrated pins) - just received Packlock90A PRO that I have yet to try, been 'training' for the Blue Whale & have white-green under 3minutes consistently...but need to integrate the dreaded 90A PRO (I joke , love this pastime!& goingtotry it outtomorrow)
@Pik_lok
@Pik_lok Ай бұрын
That all sounds brilliant 👏 I'd really like a 90A pro, although they're extremely difficult to get in the UK without paying daft amounts in shipping. I sometimes think it would be cheaper to fly to the US, buy a load, fly back, and sell them at a slight profit to cover the cost of the flight lol.

I have an old battery safe in my shed. Where do I get those “jiggly keys” from? I might have a go at it before I throw it out.
