As a writer, it sucks that ellipses aren't more acceptable to spam. Like, sure, you can have too many, but they're _so good_ at conveying timing and hesitation that change the tone of dialogue. Some people just speak with a lot of pauses, you know?

As a fellow writer, I can tell you that I abuse them quite a bit, and I don't feel bad about it. If someone tries to honestly tell me that human conversation doesn't have pauses, slight moments of reluctancy, or moments when you think mid-sentence, then that tells me that you don't talk to enough people.

I recently watched an etymologis in my shirrs feed and he explained it basically boils down to the technology we grew with, older generations grew with the telegraph, fax machine and the earliest phones, the technical limitations of those devices made spacing more difficult, and thus the dot dot dot becameva simple shorthand to separate ideas, nowadays rho, with modern messaging with minimal to no charges per message and vertical feeds has made it easier to use separators liberaly and atomize every idea.

Misuse/overuse of ellipses has really taken off in the last decade or so. It's like people unintentionally yelling at you by typing in all caps, some people have taken to ending every sentence with an ellipse. To me it looks like they're passive-aggressive judging me or plotting something, even when their words are completely innocuous.
