In our fast-paced and narcissistic world, we believe that it is fundamentally important to maintain a healthy balance between taking and giving. The tradition of the „BLOT“, of the ritualistic sacrifice in Viking culture has left a deep impression on us. It took us two years to search for fitting old texts, to form our song text from fragments of these texts and to finally realize the song and the video. We are very happy that we can proudly present the result now and above all, that we have encountered such a great interest, especially with a topic which is for sure far outside the usual entertainment culture. Musikalisch komme ich zwar aus einer GANZ anderen Ecke, aber man muss schon taub und ignorant sein, wenn man nicht auch als "Außenstehender" erkennt, dass es sich hierbei um einen extrem hochwertigen Vertreter eines vom Mainstream noch immer unterschätzten Genres handelt. Great new song..What grabs me the most about faun are the melodic moments in many of their songs, especially the harmonising, both instrument and vocal that captivate and pull at me in a primal, yet satisfying way, like home for the soul. This may sound nuts but that is the closest i can articulate to describe those moments. Their music feels like a magical mix of european traditional/folk music melodies and beats from many eras and countries going way back.

my fav thing about Faun's music in general is that it never gets old, it's simply too unique to become old. The bands style might have changed a bit but I still can't tell whether Von Den Elben was released a month ago or Yesterday never mind 11 years ago And with every song they add onto their legacy all I am is grateful and so, oh so happy. A song like Blot though really has that magic touch of nostalgia, it's as if I heard it in my past life 1000's of years ago, yet it's new.

Seeing the sacrifices in fire of Freyr and the lyre (forgive me if I mistake the type of instrument it is) reminded me of a video I've seen of the Up Helly Aa taking place in Lerwick, Scotland; a beautiful galley that has been carefully crafted with loving passion and care by volunteers for months is ceremonially burned at night to close out the day's ceremonies. That something that one cherishes and has put their heart and soul into is sacrificed for the greater good is a tragic but beautiful reminder of the balance sought in life. Thank you for this tremendously beautiful song and all that you put into researching and creating it 🙏

Eigentlich bin ich ja schon heimlicher Fan, seitdem ich euch vor 15 Jahren beim Zita-Rock Festival gesehen habe - wo alle schwarz trugen, aber die Faun Fans grün ;) Ich bin von der Qualität eurer Videos immer wieder beeindruckt. Als würde man eine Fantasy-Kurzgeschichte ansehen.
