I LOVE THIS DESIGN. NOT TOO HEAVY FOR SCHMEAR AND STILL WITH SOME POPPED UP BRICK DESIGN. I PREFERRED YOURS THAN THE OTHERS. LOVE IT! LOVE IT! LOVE IT!

I've been wanting to do a brick back splash in my kitchen, but never thought of this approach. What a great idea!! Thanks for sharing!!!

Did you ever do this? If so is it holding up okay? I was wanting to do the same thing but don't know if it is ok to get it wet.

This is exactly what I was looking for. It turned out beautiful! Thank you for the video. I want to see your other projects lol

The best diy brick wall that I’ve seen. It’s cheap, and looks fairly simple to complete. I love the textured look. It’s not the typical flat look you get with wallpaper. I plan to use this idea for a diy faux fireplace tv stand.

That is SO mucvh work! How do you conceal the seams though? And how do you remove it when you redecorate?

Do you have any recommendations on type of nails to attach faux brick and shiplap ? We are getting ready to purchase a gun for the types of things your husband has redone. So many different types of nails (straight, broad head, full head, etc). Your videos are so helpful. Your eye for decor and both your skills together = a true gift. I’m sure it’s hard work though!
@corinroth72043 жыл бұрын
Oh thank you so much for the sweet compliments! We use a pass load nail gun, and finishing nails. For the brick and shiplap we just use them in about 1 1/2 inches or less

I know this was a while ago, but do you remember how much joint compound you used for the whole wall? I'm doing my kitchen back splash but I have no idea how much I need to buy.

I am going to do this in my granddaughter’s room but I am curious how you sealed the board seams so it looks like a seamless wall.

Did you seal the compound with anything ?
@corinroth72043 жыл бұрын
I did not. Haven’t had any issues with it!

Do you need to leave a wet edge? Or can you do sections at a time without it looking obvious?
@corinroth72043 жыл бұрын
It’s really best to do it all at once but I’ve done in sections and it’s fine that way too

How did you finish the brick wall at the walk way into the room? Is it just a 1x6?
@corinroth72044 жыл бұрын
I just used a inside corner piece to finish out that corner and trimmed out edges 😘
@kathybailey834 жыл бұрын
Did you notice the compound turning a light orange or brown after it dried? I have my walls up and did a sample run on extra pieces and it isn't that white after it dried😢
@corinroth72044 жыл бұрын
Kathy Bailey not with this kind! Once I used a different kind- I think it was the lightweight formula or a different brand and I did have that problem then!

The compound for the schmear? What was name? Concrete, plaster
@corinroth72043 жыл бұрын
It’s just dry wall mud/spackle!
@rcstjean4 жыл бұрын
I’m interested in the wood corners. I want to hide the transition between the brick veneer and the drywall around the corner.
@corinroth72043 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the delay! Use corner round for outsides or cove for inside corners, flat strips for ceilings
@lindseypehrson62864 жыл бұрын
Love it! Did you put a sealant on the joint compound when it was finished? I heard it would flake off if it wasn't sealed or painted.
@sunnybeauty24644 жыл бұрын
Most people don't. Once it dries, it dries rock solid. It won't flake off.
@laurenarrowood69594 жыл бұрын
Hi! Beautiful!! Did you seal the wall after the compound application?!
@corinroth72044 жыл бұрын
Lauren Arrowood I did not! I’ve heard people say they do, but it’s held up just fine for me without sealing. These are walls I’m not often touching or wiping down though!
@smilejesuslovesyou81084 жыл бұрын
Is there anyway to create this in a shower wall?
@corinroth72043 жыл бұрын
I would definitely not put this in high moisture areas. An alternative could be maybe using brick-looking tile instead for a bathroom
@victorvek52274 жыл бұрын
Joint compound!? Lol. Thin-set mortar is what you were looking for.
@Continental_EDC3 жыл бұрын
Actually bro she's right. This is a fake brick wall you don't need thin set. It's just joint compound. Lol
