Faux Chainmail HOW-TO! Easy "under armor" technique for Cosplay! (Hosted by Alkali Layke)

I discovered this amazing and super quick way to "fake" chainmail or scale mail. It's SO much more comfortable and saves so much time. I love the look and hope you do to!

This might be an awkward question, but you've twice been a finalist in the Twitch cosplay competition and I was just wondering how you think the judges view using parts of a build that may be seen as "pre-made", like this type of fabric. Working smart goes a long way to finding the right solution in any endeavor but I'm never sure if the judges want to see more of the pain in putting together a cosplay. I guess another way to ask this question is if one competitor did the chainmail the "old fashioned" way and it took them hours and hours to do, do you think the judges would give them more credit than someone who may have found a quicker, more clever, cost-effective solution? Great question!! Hard work will always win--that's the short answer! I was short on time for that build due to Twitch announcing it with such a short time constraint, so this was my best option. AND it's a great option for "most" cosplays because chainmail is heavy, combersome and expensive. For competition...yes...always do the MOST you can do. But for basic convention cosplay I'd choose this option EVERY SINGLE TIME. Great question!!!

Very cool! I wonder how it would look with a shaped rigid structure underneath it, such as a muscle suit, or perhaps a small knife scabbard? I’ll bet it would pair well with flowing cloth, to break up the patterned look? Sorry...some ideas are popping into my head!
