NOTE: for some reason the youtube processing made the sound very loud for my last two videos. Please turn the volume down a bit and it will be fine. I'll make sure to make the sound of a lower volume for the next videos.
I promised to make more gemstone imitation techniques. I decided on the fluorite because we will use it in one of the pieces made with a mokume gane veneer.
I forgot to mention in the video, fluorite also is sometimes fluorescent.
There are more ways than one to make faux fluorite, this is just the simplest and less time-consuming one.
Happy claying!
I buy my Premo and Pardo clays and many other supplies from PolyClay Play.

The colors are given in Premo. I have received questions about making this with tinted translucents in the Cernit brand, I have no idea as I have never used them. I am now discussing with Delphine (Au Fil des Creas Phine) and she will try reproducing this with Cernit. As soon as she's done I'll link her video. Also, I don't have Pardo tinted translucent either so no idea.

I absolutely LOVE how you give alternate options for products (mica powders, etc) that people may not have on hand. Thank you for that! These cabochons turned out beautifully and I am planning to try my hand at making them this week :)

Merci Kalyana, ta proposition me touche beaucoup.

Excellent as always. It looks so real that I bet you that the only thing that would give it away is the weight. You know gemstones, lady.

Absolutely gorgeous! I happen to have the Pardo trans-lilac and trans-aqua. I have a few other pieces to finish, and after that I'll try this in Pardo and see how it does. As you know, I love realistic imitation stones. Thanks Day!

You're welcome, Deborah! By what I could see online (never had tinted translucent Pardo to work with, only untinted translucent) it should work perfectly. And I know you got some of that ghost interference powders, so you're all set! Btw, do you have Kato Polyclay> *wink*

Yep! I've got everything I need! ;-) This will be my first time using the tinted translucent, so I'm excited to try them out. I'll double check them against the Premo color mixes and let you know.

I will at one point do that too. That type of labradorite is among my most favorite stones as well and I've done the faux, just not in a tutorial yet. Until I do my tutorial on that, you might want to check Ludmila Bakulina's tutorial, you can find it here kzbin.info/www/bejne/fpyboWWhmq2Kb9E
