Faux Leather Cosplay Boot Cover Tutorial - Fem Chat Coir Cosplay

When you’re working with leather type fabrics remember to only pin in the seam allowances so they don’t leave extra holes in you fabric! That pattern making is gonna be so helpful thank yooouu

I think you should switch to a leather body suit instead of a shirt and pants because then you'll have just a little upper thigh showing and it will be super cute!!!

I did eventually lol it's hard to wear the entire suit and to change constantly while sewing is difficult

These turned out really great! (Also maybe you can sew a snap to the inside of the boot cover and the bodysuit that way it holds them up? or add velcro? either way this is super helpful :)

I'm hoping to do a Violet Evergarden cosplay and I can't order boots that would get here on time or really afford her boots with the rest of the costume, so getting a boot that is the right colour for the soles and heels and then making a boot cover would probably be way cheaper and more comfortable. I'm going to alter this tutorial with stiffer fabric and use a leather cord so that the boots can lace up and be easier to take off and get back on. If I make two layers, I can have the leather cover the toe, and then an extra piece for the strange way the boots lace up. I could use a snap on the back of the bow at the top to fasten it, and a piece of lighter fabric around the top. I'm mostly writing this out as a plan for myself, but if you have any suggestions for how I could improve my idea, please tell me. I'm fairly new to cosplay and I tend to be over-ambitious with my projects.

same tho lol good luck!!! no actually that sounds very spot on! just got to make sure the base (the shoes you're going to use for the soles) are comfy and that whatever material they're made of will stick to the glue when you glue on the boot cover .

@@TheKiradesa So after going to my local thrift stoor to buy boots, I ended up with a pair of closed heels that are really comfortable (they're Life Striders that I got for $6 on sale) and don't have too much heel for me to walk in. The shoes are also plain leather shoe material. To make the covers, I found a vinyl fabric in a colour that I like for the top bit and a slightly softer, stretchier fabric on a clearance sale for the toe. Because I'm going to glue almost a leg tube out of the vinyl to the heel of the shoe, I'm having it completely lace-up. That'll make it adjustable and fairly easy to get on and off. I'm also going to glue the vinyl to where it touches the top of my shoe so that it's not flapping around. I'm still not sure what I'm going to do around the top, but I have an idea in my head for it and what I'll use to lace it up. Thank you for replying to my comment! This tutorial really helped me get an idea for what I was going to do about my shoe situation.

Thank you so so much for this tutorial! Two questions though, was the fabric you used stretchy and how were you able to keep the boots up and now slipping down while wearing them?

they were slightly stretchy (which was helpful) and they actually did keep slipping so sewd snaps on the inside of the boot to keep it up

I really dont know how you managed to fit your foot (specifically the heel) in it! xD It is way to small around the ankle and if I make it wider, then it just looks to lose :/ Do you have any tip or idea? :)

Hi, yea just the boots, sorry T_T . I just made the boots for this cosplay and bought the cosplay online cause I didn't have time to make the whole thing.

How many yards of fabric did you use overall?
