Very nice! How did you attach the top tier to the bottom tier? Also, does the spcakle have a green or blue tint to it?
@VeryCherryCakes7 жыл бұрын
Aisha Wilson thank you! I used a hot glue gun, but you can also use STYROFOAM GLUE, found at any craft store, or you can also use a wooden dowel, you would insert the wooden dowel in the bottom tier and then place your top tier over the wooden dowel (it works best if you make a hole before doing this so your top tier can slide in without trouble) any of these methods work great! The spackle comes in white, pink, or light grey, in this case the only one available locally had a slight grey tint but I used food coloring to get a light turquoise tint anyway so it didn’t matter so much 🙃, thank you for watching 💕

Hello! Great video. I'm looking to do a dummy naked tier for a cake that I'm making. So i was wondering if you'd recommend using food coloring or non-toxic paint to color the styrofoam brown before covering it in buttercream. I don't want to use spackle because the dummy tier will go on top of a real cake.

Hello 👋 Don't know if you could help me with my query. I will be doing my sister's wedding cake this October and I will be following this tutorial to create her chosen design of a semi-naked cake. It will be a 4 tier cake (Styrofoam), out of which i was planning to cut a wedge of the bottom tier and replace with marzipan, so when they cut the cake it creates the illusion of cutting through a real cake. This is what I did in my wedding but mine was covered in fondant. Do you think that the spackle you used will be to hard to cut through? Will it crack? Thanks 😊 Love your work ❤

Awesome! Thanks! did you add torn brown paper to the final photo cake? How did you do that?
@erinboucher48984 жыл бұрын
How did you get the "frosting" spackling so smooth and spreadable? Mine was quite stuff and didn't spread as nicely as yours.

Hello I have a question. If the bottom is fake and the top is real is it safe to place a real cake on top of the bottom with the product you used for the dake cake. Or should I use real buttercream?
@VeryCherryCakes5 жыл бұрын
If you're only having two tiers, I would suggest using real buttercream, but you can make your fake tier butter cream with shortening and powdered sugar (don't use all your expensive ingredients for that buttercream tier) I hope that makes sense

This was amazing. I'm doing a naked wedding cake next month, I wanted to add 2 faux layers ....how can I make sure that the spackle doesn't get on the real cake..or is there another way to do this ?
@VeryCherryCakes6 жыл бұрын
Angela Wint hmmm, what you can do instead of using sparkle is make extra buttercream and use it on the dummy cakes, so the buttercream will dry exactly as sparkle except it’s good safe so you can add tier of real cake without worrying of contamination:)

Is that a 10" round on the bottom and an 8" round on the top? What size foam did you use to make the bottom? This is fabulous btw!!!!

How long did you let the cake dry after painting it? It looks awesome. I will be making next week. Thank you so much for this!!
@VeryCherryCakes7 жыл бұрын
Jo Woods- DIY Custom Cookies this specific spackle dries in 30 minutes so I had to work kinda fast but there’s also other types that take longer to dry, I recommend this one because it doesn’t weigh too much so your “cake” stays light and not super heavy, yay! Can’t wait to see what you make ❤️🙌🏼

As far as the paint before the spackle, do I need to let it dry over night?
@VeryCherryCakes7 жыл бұрын
Jo Woods- DIY Custom Cookies for the paint, I painted it the day before and let it dry all night , you can also blow dry it to help it dry quicker 👍🏼

Hi! Whats the thing you used as icing?
@VeryCherryCakes5 жыл бұрын
Aminath Jumana Ali it’s called sparkle, they sell several different ones at Home Depot so I ended up buying the lightweight one so that my dummy cake wouldn’t weight too much at the end

Is it safe to use non edible paint?
@VeryCherryCakes5 жыл бұрын
it's only safe if you're not placing edible materials or an edible piece on the cake, this cake is only for demonstration, photoshoots, or decoration :)
