We did a paper floor and cut it in planks. Did the same technique, but painted it with acrylic paints first. Put 3 coats over it, it’s in our guest bathroom, and it’s been down 8 years. It’s getting time to upgrade it, but it held up awesome

"YOU GO GIRL" EXCELLENT VIDEO... LOVE THE FLOOR but Please Note: the Background Music (even though beautiful to hear) was a little too LOUD and it was Hard to Hear you at times. We don't need background noise/music We just want to HEAR YOU TALK... Thank you so much for sharing this great video.

Also, it's not just people who can't afford it, we are just frugal! ha!

Oh, girl, that's a word after my own heart, lol!! Unfortunately, you'd be surprised how many have asked me what it meant when I used it, assuming I meant cheap or to somehow imply less than. I tell my daughters all the time, "Your mama is not cheap. Never Cheap. I am frugal, and there is a huge difference." Lol...After seeing their mother shop and accomplishing all I desire without compromise of style or comfort, and still having my retirement intact when I walk away, they now want to learn to be frugal, lol.

I've seen a fellas beautiful paper floors and he said he created them without glue. I wonder if it's possible.

@gutsandgrittv5076 * I used this technique both with and without glue. Both were successful but without glue was much more expensive and time consuming -plus very little room for errors. Polycrylic and polyurethane are MUCH more expensive than glue. I bought gallons of white school glue from Office Max, Office Depot and Michael's Craft Store - $9.99 each was the best price I found unless on sale or coupons were an option. I found zero difference between Elmer's glue and store brands. I didn't use the 50/50 ratio for glue and water. 2/1 was good for lower traffic areas, halls/bathrooms/kitchens were 3/1. I used a water filled spray bottle to spray each piece priorvto applying ut to the floor, eliminating ⅔+ of the brushstrokes. Once 'in the groove I managed 3 to 5 pieces per minute. I eventually started using a non-yellowing topcoat, I believe it was a varnish. Sometimes I added stain. In the 1970s I had several rental properties and I bought a few houses to rework and sale. (Now known as flipping.) If you use varnish, shellac, poly, etc in lieu of glue it's slow, more precise and fumes can be an issue.
