Looking at a map I may have my trails confused. It is actually part of S. Main Divide that is closed. If you come in from the Calle De Companero heading up toward the Wildomar OHV, they have it blocked off after the last house just after St. Gallen Way. The gentleman I spoke to from the forest service said it may be closed for a year and that the Wildomar OHV may be closed for at least 3 years to allow for regrowth after the fires. If I can make it back out there this weekend I will grab a photo of the information they have posted at the trail head.

@Trailsoffroad
@Trailsoffroad 6 жыл бұрын
I am happy to hear you enjoyed 3N16. As for #1 Saddleback, (AKA Main Divide Road) that is different from Holy Jim. According to where you are living in OC, there are a few ways to get to the trail. The most popular way is up "Maple Springs Road" in Silverado Canyon, you can take that path up to "Main Divide" and continue up to the very top of the mountains. You can find all of this information at our website www.trailsoffroad.com or you can find it at the links above in the description about the video. The link to maple springs is www.trailsoffroad.com/trails/1990-maple-spring-road-silverado-canyon-5s04. Once you are at the end of Maple Springs, you make a right on the path that is heading uphill and it will take you up to the top of Saddle Back.

Thank you so much for your website and you-tube videos! Thanks for making this video. I'm just getting into off roading so looking for new places venture off to. Are you allowed to camp in Holcomb valley? Like go off on a trail and then just set up camp at a nice scenic spot?
@Trailsoffroad
@Trailsoffroad 6 жыл бұрын
You are allowed to dispersed camp in Holcomb Valley almost anywhere. But you are not allowed open wood fires. You should also confirm that you can have a propane fire before heading out. In bad fire times, they will stop this too. As for great camping spots along 3N16, there is some really good spots just west of 3N14. There is even better spots off of 3N12 and 3N12C which you can find at www.trailsoffroad.com/trails/1049-3n16-holcomb-valley by click on the GPS track on the map. There is also a couple good spots overlooking Big Bear lake off of 2N71. But you can't get very far off the trail on these ones. Now some of my favorites for dispersed camping are off 3N07A. But don't get to far back in the woods if traveling alone. The trail gets sort of hard.

trailsoffroad.com where would I be able to off road and have an open fire? Kennedy Meadows? Monache Meadows?
@Trailsoffroad
@Trailsoffroad 6 жыл бұрын
It is more about the time of the year... You will have to check with any forestry service to ensure you can have an wood fire. Big Bear does allow this at some point during the year, but you will need to check with the Discovery Center to find out. As far as where at this time of the year? Almost all the forests will be the same limitations. But you can always go out to the deserts. There is almost no limitations there. There is a work around, if propane camp stoves are allowed, you can but the below link which is considered a Camp Stove... I own one and it is nice for the forests here in the summer time when wood fires are banned. www.amazon.com/Camco-58031-Campfire-Portable-Propane/dp/B000O51VJ0/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1508479204&sr=8-2&keywords=little+red+campfire

As for the required lines, everything in the video can be done open front and rear. Miller Jeep Trail has the hardest required lines but with a good spotter you will likely have no issues. Everything shot here was in a 01 Jeep Wrangler open front and rear. Now, just off the required lines for a majority of these areas are much harder optional lines / trails. Thus most of these areas can offer a great challenge for the more extreme crowd and at the same time provide plenty of enjoyment for the everyone else making them great group areas to wheel.

Bummer about Crash Flats water crossing... Now there's a new bridge with 50 yards of asphalt on each end. Something about too many rescues... Maybe Holcomb Creek after all this rain and snow 3N16 at 3N93 (3N08 on VUM)
@Trailsoffroad
@Trailsoffroad 6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it was disappointed to see it go in. The logic behind why the bridge was required was even worse. But if the option is to have a bridge or no trail, I will take the bridge. Now, there is some okay water crossing on 1N09, they get going really good in the spring. We recently added that trail to our website recently if you would like more information.
@NickSharpe
@NickSharpe 6 жыл бұрын
yes 1N09 is a long drive! And there are some water crossings in the shade. Last time I patrolled (which is kinda what I do, I live in GVL) was November so there wasn't much water. This recent storm has my creek ragin' like a river so maybe this weekend, I'll patrol again (before the next storm hits). Wanna make a safari out of it? I start from 330 because that's closest to me - LMK

For hard mounts, usually front bumper and rear bumper where you see nothing else. But most of the time it is hand held.

There is no easy trail between the two. Your best bet is to go around to running springs and take 3N16 up from there.. All the trails can be found on our website www.trailsoffroad.com

@Trailsoffroad

Yes, Trabuco can easily be done in 2wd. 3N16 is also another trail. But you might need to air down to add traction. If you stick to the east side of 3N16 you will be fine. That is 3N14 and east. Also check out Gold Fever Trail. All this information can be found at www.trailsoffroad.com

Sorry, you felt that way, I usually try to talk to people and hang out when I have time. I like getting to know people and getting out with them. I talked with your wife I believe it was, she had pink hair, for a good 5 to 10 minutes as we waiting for the group to finish the trail. When you walked up, you caught us as we were discussing how to get people home and we were tired for a long day on the trails. But we still talked about your campsite and I thought it was a cool spot to dispersed camp and we talked about your channel you started. Sorry,I wish I had more time but we had several people that in our group that was needed to get off the trails quickly as it was late in the day we were all tired since it started at 5am.
