Haven't had a fish in a couple of weeks. The water temperature where I am is hovering around 50 degrees Fahrenheit give or take a couple degrees. At what point is it too cold (in your opinion) and the fish become inactive?
@ExtremeAnglerTV6 жыл бұрын
Scott, walleyes can be sluggish at times, but the colder it gets the better they can be especially in thick weeds in late fall. Try late afternoons if the mornings are cold.

I like how you key on lightweight and length. To me thats a pinch more important than color though the color has to be right for the setting too, the length or weight can either foul or ignite the presentation. Trimming grubs is a huge tip for baitfish pattern!
@ExtremeAnglerTV8 жыл бұрын
+Tyler Kramer depends on depth I am fishing and wind speed; anywhere from 2 feet to 14, I will employ the 1/8th oz jig head with the smaller grub body; the longer that grub stays falling thru the water column, the more opportunity I have to get bit, and remember, walleye do not attack a lure when they eat, they inhale, so a lighter choice of lure is always a better option than heavier, when conditions allow of course.

Just caught a 28 inch walleye this past weekend in the kawarthas. Beauty fish on a beauty day. Had some shoulders to it too. Didn't get a weight on it because I wanted to get er back in the water but must've been 7-9 lbs. Swam away to see another day. Fish of a lifetime for me anyway! Nothing better than some good ol razorback fishing

A yellow 1/8 or 1/4 oz jig (depending on depth) paired with a 3 or 4 inch white grub (depending on size and aggression of fish on 8-12 pound test is by far the best combination in my experience, nothing performs better for me regardless of bottom type or depth of water, even minnows or nightcrawlers cant compete

I just started getting into fishing and starting to become a big fan of your videos. I got a question for you tho.. For jig heads you say you like to use different sizes. Ex, 3/8, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16 oz heads.. I'm curious as to what you think is the best hook size for the different heads. Like for 3/8 oz is a 3/0 hook too big? 1/4 oz & 1/8 oz = a 1/0 or 2/0 hook? Should a 1/16 oz be a 1/0 or start going into sizes 1,2, or 4? Being new it can be pretty overwhelming.
@ExtremeAnglerTV7 жыл бұрын
good question- most times I will tie on a jig head that relates to the size of bait/lure/plastic; larger hooks for bigger baits bodies so hook up ratios increase; you don`t want too much of your hook sticking up thru your bait or else you will be constantly getting snagged up on bottom or in the weeds. Adjust the sizes according to the size of bait you as using.

Walleye are walleye, find a way to present a bait to them and they usually co-operate, sometimes they have to be tempted to strike, other times they are as aggressive as smallmouth on the feed bag

Can't believe the amount of fish you're catching without tipping the hook with a live bait. I'd expect a shiner, eh! The easy answer is you don't have to since you're catching fish but is there a different reason why you wouldn't?
@ExtremeAnglerTV7 жыл бұрын
I fish for walleye 90% of the time with artificial baits, presentation and location play a huge part; these shallower weed lines usually produce reaction strikes while the bait is falling and I am placing the grubs right on the tip of the weed edges where a lot of these fish are positioned so it is not hard to get bit once you locate the fish.
