You have to read Mythos by Vivian Fortis. Its the best mythology book ever ! And because its written by a greek writer its far more accurate than Ric Riordan's books. Its about a girl , Daphne Demetriade who will fall in love with her university teacher Phoebus Kristian , who apperently is Appolo. She will get into this world of Gods where Titans will try to kill her, the Gods will challenge her, she will get pregnat ( no its not a Twilight-like pregnancy its better I promise) etc. And I mean you really have to read these books( its a trilogy) because its VERY well written , its PERFECT for mythology and YA books fans and the characters are really complex and amazing. Phoebus its GORGEOUS and Daphne its really dynamic and fearless. There are a lot more I could say but I dont want to spoil anything for you so I think you would like it for sure !

A Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller broke my heart. It's a retelling of the Illiad, but from Patroclus's perspective, and if you want it to tick all the boxes (major deaths, major events) you will be a little disappointed because even though the war plays a very important role in the story, this book, unlike Illiad, isn't about the war. t it's core, it's a love story and one so beautifully, achingly told that I couldn't believe that the non-minute descriptions of the actions in the Batttle of Troy didn't bother me at all. At all. (I love the Illiad btw). It is beautiful

PJO didn't get big until I was in high school, but when I was in late elementary school and early junior high, I loved a different Greek mythology book series, the Myth-O-Mania series by Kate McMullan, which retells all the myths from Hades' perspective. The premise is that Zeus wrote the versions we know, to make himself look good, but actually he's a compulsive liar and overly self-involved, so Hades takes it upon himself to tell readers the "real" stories, since he was the good guy all along. I remember them being hilarious and a lot of fun, so I definitely recommend them for PJO fans looking for more children's-level/middle grade mythology books. :D

I've not read much mythology-based work, because Greek and Roman mythology were never something I was taught or took an interest in growing up, I think? It's something I'm quite regretting as I get older. I've always been told to ready the Percy Jackson series and simply never have, but I definitely will seek it out now, based on your enthusiasm! I have, however, read The Pyrdain Chronicles, by Lloyd Alexander which I can't recommend highly enough; the five-book series draws on Welsh mythology and is adventurous and silly and so wholeheartedly fun, while being brilliantly crafted. Loved this video! -Les
