Let me just say that I love the design of the hammer and I just found your Chanel and immediately subbed after watching. I do have a question though. I am wondering why 5lb’s? I’ve been told by my mentor that you really don’t need a hammer more than 3 lbs unless it’s for drawing out or striking. And you don’t need to draw out by hand nor have a striker since you have a press and power hammer.
@JustinTopp5 жыл бұрын

I have a 3 lb forging hammer that was given to me with a 1/4" chip missing from edge face of the hammer. What would cause a hammer face to chip off like that ?
@ScabbyCrab4 жыл бұрын
Bad heat treatment? I have a flame hardened hammer of mine that has a huge crack the whole way up the face, happened when I was striking tools, I think the heat treatment I did had too much of a steep differential between the face and the bulk of the hammer immediately behind the face.

Hi Liam, fantastic work, i really admire your ability to move steel. Keep up the good work. I also have a question, any chance that I get you to make this idea of forestry tool i have. It's what we here in Europe call a "Forest Hammer" similar to a American splitting maul, they are normally 3 kilograms and 80 cm handel. Would be nice to see if it's possibly to make a smaller one that's like 1,2 kg with a long straigth handel 60-70 cm which you can carry on a belt. We mainly use them for pounds wedges. Best Regards from Denmark.
