Favourite Filipino Fried Chicken Feast and a 25lb Cheese Halo Halo! at Max's Restaurant

I had the good fortune to work in the Philippines many years ago and I fondly remember the great people there and also the great food. My first meal was some comforting fried chicken at a popular spot called Jollibee and as luck would have it, there were 3 Jollibee locations opening up here in Vancouver. But there's a catch, they've announced this for the last two years so I'm not holding my breath.
As luck would have it, another iconic Filipino restaurant is also located in Vancouver called Max's. Even better yet, they have their original style for crispy fried chicken that is second to none, and they have traditional Filipino favourites such as lumpia, Kare Kare, and a massive 25lb Halo Halo...
Thank. you for joining me on the food feast and wishing you good health and good eats to you all!

Max’s was started in the 1940s by a Stanford grad that went back home to the Philippines. He invited some US soldiers to his home for dinner and they liked it so much he opened a restaurant.

@@TimLeeLetsGoThanks Tim! I would love to see some Vancouver vegan Chinese/Asian places! So easy for Chinese kitchen of all regions to do vegan because their use of veg.Hold the pig and chicken feet PLEASE! Next time ur planning to come to LA let me know. You have covered Chinese places here but you need to hit San Gabriel Valley for the biggest and best selection. We have EVERY kind of Asian restaurant here in SoCal (largest # of Vietnamese outside of Vietnam in Westminster Orange County)and lots and lots of readily fresh Asian markets ( including Indian) selling authentic ingredients and veggies.Of course, the very best Mexican food from every region as well plus Central American,Persian, Armenian, Peruvian, Indian, and more.Truly a melting pot! We are still in mandatory mask/proof of vaccination mode due to Omnicron so I would hold off coming for awhile.

Happy New Year!!! Max's restaurant is still a go to eat place for Filipinos. But We were in Las Vegas last year and that place is not the same anymore. We ordered almost the same as what you had and more except their big halo halo(other Filipino delis got better). My bro. In law complained about their chicken because it's not fully cooked, they took it back to their kitchen and the pork bbq was really tough. Anyways, thanks for your video and can't wait for your Jollibee experience.

Well, it's too early for Valentine's Day since tomorrow is Chinese New Year's Eve I don't know when you had this nice Filipino feast. But, it's odd that you are wearing a short sleeves t-shirt in January in Vancouver. It must be cold!!! You had a great Filipino feast with a unique 25 lbs. Cheese Halo Halo dessert. You will probably come up with another wonderful feast for Valentine's Day with your significant other! Oh, I almost forgot that you were wearing a coat while you were walking to the restaurant. And you mentioned that it's cold. We don't have Filipino restaurants in small towns in the East Coast.

Your shellfish shack and Vancouver night market festival video from 5 months ago just popped up. You had a few towers of wonderful seafood at the shellfish shack with Isabella, Christina, James and another guy. Then you guys went to the night market which looked like a lot of fun. Vancouver is like Hong Kong with night markets. I know you have done tons of food videos. This shellfish shack and night market is worth mentioning as you went with four friends eating together which is more fun. Please do a fun food feast with a few girls for Valentine's Day, and no other guys!! Just you and a few girls will definitely be lots of fun!! Well, it's always good and fun to do different things especially for Valentine's Day!! Hopefully, your significant other wouldn't mind having a few girls together with her and you!!

Today is Chinese New Year's Eve, and I want to says that I was right that No Other KZbinrs was Able to do a video on a super awesome banquet style Chinese New Year's Eve dinner. Chinese KZbinrs didn't even mentioned Chinese New Year as they continued to do their everyday regular videos. That being said, however, Bill & Lisa who is Japanese uploaded a video yesterday saying Chinese New Year celebrating in Las Vegas. Bill said he wanted some good dim sum to kick off the Chinese New Year at the Orchids Garden. Dim Sum is nice but it's Not the traditional Chinese New Year food, LOL!!!! They had hotpot at the Chubby Cattle for dinner, but that is also Not traditional Chinese New Year food, haha!!!! Indeed, you won the Oscar for best performance in the super awesome Chinese New Year's Eve banquet dinner with family and friends!! Oh, and it's nice to hear that you had worked in the Philippines. It's wonderful to be able to live and work in another country.

I want to says that I am surprised that Ms. Ming Lifestyle who is in Texas did not do a video on Chinese New Year. She is from China and has a PhD in Education. She and her husband did a video in the Tim Ho Wan Restaurant in Honolulu eating a ton of different dim sum items. One unusual dim sum item was the 2 abalone on a half shell. I believe there is a new dim sum and seafood restaurant in Flushing Chinatown that also have the unusual abalone as a dim sum item. She normally do a lot of Costco and Traders Joe hauls. One time she got canned abalone in one of her Costco hauls. One wouldn't expect to find canned abalone in Costco!! She don't do a lot of restaurants' meal. But, there were one time she and her husband did a seafood dinner video in one of the Chinatowns' restaurant in Texas. That seafood dinner had some unusual items. You already did such a awesome gourmet Chinese New Year banquet dinner so I guess she don't have to do one, haha!!

I'm actually quite surprised at what we're getting at Costco in our area... I think we also have the can abalone, but we also have something like sea cucumbers and those swallow bird nests products as well.. would love to see what Chinese food is like in texas! Must be much bigger there 😄

@@TimLeeLetsGo Ms. Ming did the seafood dinner at the Ocean Palace Dim Sum & Seafood Restaurant in Houston, Texas about 7 months ago. One of the unusual items is a huge bowl of creamy white fish soup. Another unusual item is a huge black rectangular pan containing a big grill whole fish that was still cooking at the table which looked unique. I mean it's not like the typical hotpot. The last unusual item is a big crab with rice wrapped in the lotus leaves. She mentioned that the rice is delicious due to assorting all the juice from the crab. Out of curiosity, I called a few seafood restaurants in Houston. None of them have sea cucumbers or abalone or ginseng soup. It's the big cities in the West Coast and East Coast that have these more unique Asian delicacies. I am putting in my 2 cents worth!!! However, I am No food expert!!!! I hope you will do more good feast of different food. Thank you! I messed up on a word in the above sentence the juices from the crab is absorbed by the rice wrapped with the crab in the lotus leaves making the rice delicious. I messed up by using assorted and Not absorbed!!!!
