Melanie is trying to rebuild her image, after Crybaby her image got really releated to a kid, and that's why K-12 skipped a lot of years (cause Class fight and The Principal are in the same here, just like Show & tell and Nurse's Office, and of course, Lunchbox friends, Orange juice and Detention) so she could also dance as she wants and act sexy without being judged, that's why her favorite choreographies were Detention and HSS (the sexiest ones)

“The Bakery” is based on a job Melanie Martinez had in high school. As the title implies, she did in fact work in a bakery. In the first verse she lets it be known that she enjoyed it a bit, being able to partake of some of its sweet products. But her inspiration was to make enough dough to transcend ‘that sh***ole’ in style. More specifically, Melanie has stated on social media that she was using the job to fund her artistic pursuits. And the reason she hated the place, as the second and third verses reveal, is because she had an oppressive, nitpicking boss. So ultimately she lost her enthusiasm and was compelled to leave the bakery.Yes I did copy and paste. Hope this gives more info on the music video itself! =3

What I gathered from the lyrics of this song before seeing what Melanie had to say about it was that it’s about someone going through the motions of the same action “pack it, box it “etc. And them not really caring about it but doing what you’re doing just to get the “dough” aka money so when I read her explanation I gotta say that I think she did a great job portraying that story lyrically and considering it was about an actual bakery also adding visuals in a her style.
