Was at that game, 11 years old. The roof almost popped off when Barry scored! Silverdome was as loud as they come… and of course watched a bloody fight in the 3rd deck. Good times

Hearing Mike Patrick on the call for Sunday Night Football produces the absolute best nostalgia for of growing up in the 90s. Fresh popcorn, cold Pepsi can with the new "wide mouth" opening, not a single care or responsibility in the world. My only obligation is to take in primetime NFL football on this perfect Sunday evening. Life is good.

I watched the full version of this game today seeking it out (I prefer complete broadcasts if available to highlights, even if sometimes I struggle to watch it all the way through admittedly lol), and I agree, I half expected them to mention it on commentary how it even faked them. I never saw it myself first time, it was amazing.

Dang... even in his final season, Barry Sanders could still run like a deer. Once he got past the secondary on that touchdown run, he just kicked it into high gear and was gone. I sure miss watching him. He was once in a lifetime type of player.

Here are some of the milestones that were removed because of this call. Would have been his 6th run of 80 yards or more Would have been his 6th season of 1500 yards or more rushing Would have been his 5th consecutive season of 1500 yards or more rushing Would have finished with career 100 yards a game playing 153 games and gaining 15349 rushing yards Would have been his 100-rushing touchdown Would have averaged just over 5.0 yards a carry for his career

Bro cmon. Barry made the playoffs half the seasons he played, even made the NFC Championship game. And the Lions made the playoffs the year Barry retired. Their problem stemmed from facing the Cowboys dynasty of the 90s with one year of Scott Mitchell as their only competent QB
