At 40 years old Brett Favre set career highs in completion percentage, QB rating, and AY/attempt. He threw 33 touchdowns and only 7 interceptions. He threw at least 13 picks in every other season. His 4,202 passing yards were only 211 short of his career high in 1995. Brett really did put everything he had physically and mentally into making one last serious run at a Super Bowl. @@chriskay1449 Pedestrian? He was tied for 2nd in the league that season with Peyton Manning with 33td's. The league has been adapted to pad QB stats over the last decade. In 2009 the leaders for TD passes were : Brees: 34 Manning/Favre: 33 Rodgers : 30 with no other qb surpassing 30 td's. Favre made stars out of Sidney Rice (had 1,300 yards in 2009 and never eclipsed 800 any other year in his career) and Shancoe (11 td's). With Favre under center Adrian Peterson, usually useless as a receiver, had his best season with 27.3 receiving yards per game. The offense became #2 in the league under Favre after finishing 12, 15, 26, and 19 the previous 4 seasons. Nothing pedestrian about getting an MVP stolen because he was a "villian" in 2009, and a super bowl being stolen in a bounty bowl, where the media still ignores the missed fumble, phantom pi call, and reviewed catch that hit the ground but was called complete for the saints in OT.

@@ahmedrahim2500 Not the same thing. A Rod has not spoken publicly about this matter and also has not faked a retirement to try to get the Packers to release him. Hell, he hasn't even asked for a trade either. The Packers haven't budged and they also learned from their mistakes with Favre as they are publicly stating their committment to Aaron and nothing else. They are in a far better position now than they were with Favre.

@@vladtheimpaler9770 There is no proof Rodgers has which is my point. Brett did both publicly. He also publicly demanded his release. All he was with Rodgers is a "report" by Adam Schefter who has since admitted he actually has no sources backing up the story.

Say what you will about Farve but the man was still throwing rockets at 40, very impressive. The two throws after 10:48 show that he was still a gun slinger.

One of the craziest moments in sports history Favre running onto to Lambeau field in a Vikings uniform. As a Vikings fan it was very different rooting for him but I really enjoyed having him on the team. The fact that they didn’t win the sb that year will always piss me off

Farve should have went to the Superbowl in 09. All he had to do was run 8 yards against the saints and kick the field goal. That throw back over the middle. WTH.

His ankle was destroyed during that game anyway, the doctor who did the surgery said it wasn’t even healed by the time the next season started. Vikings would’ve lost the Super Bowl and Favre would’ve been hobbling around on one leg the whole time. The story would’ve been the same.

As a Green Bay fan, much as I hate to say it, that’s the Favre special. Forcing a ball into double coverage and praying for the best… God, he was so much fun to watch, but he was also one of the most *painful* players to watch.

Green Bay got the last laugh the following year but beating Brett twice and winning the Super Bowl.

Last laugh for what? Not welcoming the next bart Starr back to the field in a exhibition match that turned volatile? But yet brett played admirably by using just talent and modern intuition. True packer fans recognize a true packer. ESPECIALLY mfin Bret Favre, brother(regretfully). 😁

@@justink9912 He tired to manipulate his way to Minnesota while still under contract and thought he could win a Super Bowl there in order to stick it to Green Bay. @@chriskay1449 is not a true packer. Ended up a cripple lmao. He was just shooting bows with stone cold. Manipulate? Ted Thompson never gave him a choice to come back to green Bay. If it's your last two years, you wouldnt wanna go to a team with Superbowl potential? Lmao youre a riot sir

@@justink9912 Favre tried to use the fans to force Ted to release him by continually badmouthing the organization. What he failed to consider was that 1)The Packers had plenty of cap space to take his contract back on, and 2)Ted absolutely not caring one iota what either Brett or the fans thought. Then he ran his mouth one too many times with his Fox News interview which caused the fans to revolt against him. Oh and by the way son, the Packers were just in the NFC title game when he "retired" so he was already on a Super Bowl contender. In fact, he was the one who personally choked away that game with one of his patented boneheaded INT's. And yes he is a cripple. He has already admitted he has brain damage and is constantly forgetting things while living in pain. The only riot here is you.
