Northwick Park Hospital near Mentmore Close (scene of the thrashing the car scene) also stood in as the hospital where Sybil was staying for her in growing toenail operation in "The Germans" episide. And André's Restaurant (which featured in "Gourmet Night" same episide with the thrashing scene) was located in 294 Preston Road also in the general area to the south of Mentmore Close.

I think the best comedy programs had limited runs. The Young Ones only had two series and Blackadder had four (plus some specials). Others such as Allo Allo and Red Dwarf started well, but went on too long. Even Mrs Brown’s Boys, I found funny at first but there’s only so far you can stretch one joke.

Wonderful video, thanks so much for your excellent presentation. Being a keen fan of the iconic 1960s' series, The Prisoner, perhaps it would be a good idea to visit the show's main location, Portmerion; failing that, closer to home, you have Westminster Place in West London, which is where they filmed the exterior shots of No.6's former residence in the capital. Not forgetting the underground car parking scene and McGoohan's drive down the Mall. Be seeing you (again)!
@HenrysAdventures13 сағат бұрын
Thank you very much! Thank you for the suggestion on The Prisoner. I've visited Portmerion in the last and it's certainly somewhere I'd like to revisit and made a video.

Very interesting vid Henry thanks for showing these locations, I’ve never seen them before. Love the Lada, when I was growing up there were lots of Ladas about and they were often the butt of jokes but they were good cars in reality, more so if you have a mechanical mind and happy to tinker, I use to travel to college in a G reg white Lada estate back in the early 90’s, it was like a tough old tank, it had plenty of character.
@HenrysAdventures13 сағат бұрын
Thank you very much! I agree Ladas had lots of jokes made about them but I'm still very happy to own one today. As you say, they're like an tank and have plenty of character.

They must have done some research in Torquay itself. I stayed at a hotel that looked very similar to Fawlty Towers in Torquay. The view from my room was identical to that shown in the "that IS Torquay, that is the sea, wilderbeast" scene with the deaf woman.

Strange how old buildings mysteriously burn down and then get replaced by housing estates 🤔.... On another note, as a classic car owner myself, once your Lada is passed her 40th birthday, it qualifies for historic vehicle status and that will make it ulez exempt!

Me and the wife stayed in the 'real fawlty towers' the gleneagles, Torquay in 2001....it was very pleasant, 4 course evening meal, a pathway down to a secluded beach, an open air swimming pool and I seem to recall some autographed paperwork etc under a glass topped desk at reception, signed by John Cleese and possibly the monty python team, can't remember really. Me and the wife were sat in the garden as the sun went down, much to the annoyance of the other guests, we couldn't understand why they kept looking out of the window at us.....then we heard grunting sounds ....ah the penny dropped, the hotel used to feed the local badger population all the left overs. Me and the missus sitting there meant the badgers wouldn't come out. I really hope the builders took care to not disturb these creatures......Torquay seemed a nice place back then......slightly different when we went back in 2018🤔🤔🤔

The interior shots of FT bore no relation to the exterior; the dining room was to the right of the lobby as seen from the inside, with the kitchen behind it so it would have stuck out several yards on the left as seen from the outside. There was no such extension!

Fantastic bit of narration. I live just up the road from Wooburn Green and glad the Lada is reliable or as the Russians call it a Shigulli. I was in Russia last week and there are still plenty around but every year less and less. I think the export ones were better quality than those made for it's domestic market
